Mile 22 Trailer Sees Mark Wahlberg Get Down To Business
Mark Wahlberg is the one to call when you need to "get s*** done."
STX Entertainment has just unveiled the first trailer for Mile 22, the impending action thriller flick starring Wahlberg as James Silva, the leader of a CIA group known as Overwatch. As the footage demonstrates, Wahlberg's Silva is a take-no-prisoners, no-holds-barred kind of guy.
"Do you want to live in a world where everybody feels cozy and validated all the time?" he asks in the voiceover that opens the Mile 22 trailer. "Or do you want to live in a world that works?"
Directed by Deepwater Horizon and Lone Survivor filmmaker Peter Berg, Mile 22 centers on Silva and his fellow Overwatch members (including The Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan as Alice and professional wrestler and formal mixed martial artist Ronda Rousey as Sam Snow) as they fight "the new wars" that the military and diplomatic officers simply can't win. "We're ghosts ... but we're very real," Silva says. "And we get s*** done."
The team's tasks lead to the mother of all missions: locating a high-ranking American intelligence agent attempting to smuggle a law enforcement officer out of the United States. Silva and co. must transport the officer — as well as the sensitive information he holds — away from a bustling city to a getaway plane 22 miles away.
Alongside the trailer, STX released the official summary for the film: "In a visceral modern thriller from the director of Lone Survivor, Mark Wahlberg stars as James Silva, an operative of the CIA's most highly-prized and least understood unit. Aided by a top-secret tactical command team, Silva must retrieve and transport an asset who holds life-threatening information to Mile 22 for extraction before the enemy closes in."
Mile 22 also stars John Malkovich as Bishop, Iko Uwais as Li Noor, Nikolai Nikolaeff as Aleksander, and Carlo Alban as Douglas. Terry Kinney and Poorna Jagannathan hold roles as well, though details on their characters haven't yet been revealed. The film is slated for a July 20 launch.
