Who Plays Wylan On Shadow And Bone
As seen with "The Witcher," Netflix knows how to unfurl a sprawling fantasy epic, which is a hallmark of "Shadow and Bone," based on two sets of books by Leigh Bardugo. Developer Eric Heisserer navigated the first season and explored the unfolding journey of Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), a young girl getting used to her newfound role as the Sun Summoner that gives her the power to control light.
Adapting the titular novel from 2013, the first season checked all the boxes in terms of grand fantasy storytelling, compelling visual effects, and a dynamic cast of characters. Archie Renaux (Mal Oretsev), Freddy Carter (Kaz Brekker), and Amita Suman (Inej Ghafa) rounded out the supporting cast with characters just as intriguing as Li's memorable portrayal of the protagonist.
With Season 2 of the series set to drop on the streamer on March 16, 2023, new characters will be introduced in the next leg of Alina's story. Jack Wolfe, the actor playing Wylan Hendricks, may look familiar to you if you are a fan of Netflix fantasies and fantasy cinema. Here is where you have seen him before.
Jack Wolfe had a small guest role in Netflix's The Witcher
English actor Jack Wolfe got his start as a thespian in British theater where he made his debut professional acting performance in "The Braille Legacy" playing the part of Louis Braille. The actor made the transition to television with a guest starring part on BBC One's iconic comedy "Father Brown." He continued to act on stage before making his first worldwide TV appearance with the small role of Nadbor in Season 1 of Netflix's "The Witcher."
Nadbor is featured in the episode titled "Much More" — the Season 1 finale. Although he only appears in a handful of scenes revolving around Ciri (Freya Allan), the surreal circumstances of the scenes easily stick out in the mind. He would go on to appear on stage in "The Musician," The Snow Queen," and "The Magician's Elephant" throughout 2020 and 2021. Wolfe also had a guest appearance on the BBC Two comedy series "Inside No.9," before making his big-screen debut in 2022.
Wolfe plays Tim Walker and Prince Tamino in The Magic Flute
Apart from his upcoming role in the second season of "Shadow and Bone," Jack Wolfe's most notable role was on the big screen as Tim Walker/Prince Tamino in the Roland Emerich executive-produced fantasy film "The Magic Flute." The movie is an homage to Mozart's opera of the same name from 1791 and introduces a fantasy element as Tim enters a mythical world revolving around the operatic musical suite.
In an interview with Screen Rant discussing the movie, Wolfe responded to the interviewer's liking of the film by sharing, "Oh, thank you for saying that. It's lovely that you had that experience with it, that's exactly what I would like from the film is to sort of invite people into that world, especially if it's one that they're not familiar with." He then added how he was attracted to the project in part due to the passion held for the project by its creators.
With the follow-up installment of "Shadow and Bone" now under his belt, Wolfe's is on track to become a go-to actor for fantasy work.
