Invincible Season 2: Could Bulletproof Replace Mark As Invincible?
While "The Boys" has become one of Prime Video's biggest shows by bringing a beloved comic book series into live action, its similarly subversive superhero hit "Invincible" has much more storytelling options thanks to it being rooted in animation. This makes extravagant scenes like battles on alien planets or the absolute carnage of Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons) much easier to pull off in practice.
Though Season 1 of "Invincible" has already introduced plenty of key characters, the upcoming second season is set to introduce even more heroes and villains to the roster. Still, only one of them could take on the moniker Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) inhabits in the series, which is the character of Bulletproof.
In fact, going off of the plot of the comics storyline, Bulletproof should already be introduced at this point in the story, as he was meant to do battle with Machine Head (Jeffrey Donovan), a character who was already defeated in the Prime Video adaptation. While we don't want to spoil why Bulletproof needs to fill in for Mark for a short time, fans may already expect the character to appear in "Invincible" Season 2, especially since his introduction has already been teased and brought up multiple times.
Bulletproof wears Mark's original suit in the Image Comics series
Zandale Randolph, a.k.a. Bulletproof, received superpowers through the experiments of his twin brother Tyrone Randolph. Unfortunately, while Zandale did gain incredible powers from the experiments, Tyrone was vaporized in the process. Among Zandale's powers is the ability to absorb kinetic energy, super strength, super speed, and the ability to fly. Naturally, this powerset makes him the perfect character to stand in for Invincible when he's taken out of the game for a time.
Another reason why Bulletproof is likely to appear in "Invincible" is because he eventually becomes a member of the Guardians of the Globe, one of the most important teams in the series. Fans will recall that other members like Robot (Zachary Quinto), Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs), and Rex Splode (Jason Mantzoukas) have already been introduced in the series.
Still, there are other characters who could easily pop up in Season 2 of "Invincible" as well. Mark's half-brother, Oliver, for one, could easily show up to menace his brother. The character is born after Omni Man leaves Earth to live on another planet, which has already happened in the animated adaptation.
Meanwhile, there are other Viltrumite villains like Thragg and Lucan who could also easily appear to trouble Invincible. Being that the combined efforts of the world's strongest heroes weren't enough to handle even a rogue Omni-Man, these two characters would be especially dangerous if they arrived in the upcoming second season.
