Epic Fan Art Casts New DC Heroes With Miles Teller As Green Lantern
The DC Universe will see some big changes in the coming years as James Gunn and Peter Safran's new slate of films, TV shows, video games and animated projects take the world by storm. As the world awaits news on who will embody this new line of heroes, fans have taken it upon themselves to craft their own bit of fan casting.
Among the names tossed around for potential roles is that of Miles Teller, who many fans feel would be a perfect fit as Hal Jordan in the upcoming "Green Lantern" HBO Max series. Teller is no stranger to the superhero genre, having starred in the Josh Trank-directed "Fantastic Four" film from 2015. In contrast to the film's unfortunate reputation, however, fans would be more than happy to see the "Top Gun: Maverick" star back as a comic book character.
One of these fans who sees Teller as a likely candidate is Instagram artist Daniel Savage (@savagecomics), who collaborated on a fan art piece with some fellow creators that envisioned a younger version of the Justice League. Savage's contribution sees Teller go green as the iconic DC hero, which may not be too off from eventual reality.
Fans aren't the only ones who are open to the casting choice
Daniel Savage's fan art piece sees Miles Teller's Green Lantern alongside Wolfgang Novogratz as Superman (@subi.ozil), Glenn Powell as Booster Gold (@spdrmnkyxxiii) and Jacob Elordi as Batman (@clements.ink). However, while some of the fan castings received mixed views from commenters, many agreed that Savage's version of Green Lantern was certainly a standout, such as @pnutbutter06, who comments, "Miles Teller is the only good choice on here." Meanwhile, @catt_masey, based on Teller's appearance, even has a suggestion for what a new Justice League movie could be called, commenting, "Justice League: Maverick?"
Teller may not be flying planes in this fan piece, but the actor more than soars as the popular comic book character. The vibrant green of the suit and its shining glow feel straight off the pages of a comic, while Teller himself fits the visual description and physique of Jordan quite well.
Rumors of Teller's casting in the role would eventually reach the actor himself, who is open to the possibility. Talking with ComicBook, Teller says, "Yeah, for sure [I'd be down]. I love the fanbase. I love the Marvel and DC fanbases and I love those movies as an audience member and it seems they've taken these characters more and more seriously because the fans deserve it. There's nothing cheap about those characters and if the right thing came along, I'd be open to it for sure."
