Modern Family's Aubrey Anderson-Emmons Is Unrecognizable In Mini Reunion Photo

Audrey Anderson-Emmons was just four years old when fans were first introduced to her on "Modern Family." From 2011 to 2020, the child actor played Lily Tucker-Pritchett, the sassy, Vietnamese daughter of Mitchell Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam Tucker (Eric Stonestreet), on the ABC "mockumentary"-style sitcom.

Because "Modern Family" was such a massive hit, Anderson-Emmons was recognized in public all the time. In 2016, she told Smashing Interviews that it made her "nervous" when she got recognized a lot. So perhaps that's why at age 15, she's nearly unrecognizable to fans. In a recent Instagram selfie with her "Modern Family" co-star, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Anderson-Emmons was all grown up — with a two-tone dye job on her hair. Gone were the plain brown locks, which were replaced with a wavy, banged 'do that was half brunette and half bleached blonde. She also wore large hoop earrings and showed off her smile.

In a Reddit thread, some viewers admitted that they did not recognize Anderson-Emmons in the reunion pic with her TV dad. "Is that Lily??" asked Reddit user u/Revolutionary-Stay54. "Omg I couldn't recognise them for a sec! Love Lilly," wrote u/slyskyy. "I was looking at the girl and thinking who is this celebrity? It took me a few minutes to recognize," chimed in u/chocosmurf13. "Guys I see the confusion, It's Lily with the Cruella hair," added u/Dionelune.

User KitKatt1959 pointed out that Anderson-Emmons was unrecognizable because she was actually smiling in the photo — something the scowling Lily Tucker-Pritchett rarely did!

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons said she doesn't 'relate' to her Modern Family character

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons may have started in show business at a young age, but she was truly acting when she played Lily on "Modern Family." She was just in fourth grade when she told Smashing Interviews, ”I can be a little sassy sometimes like Lily, but mostly we're not alike at all." In a separate chat with Girls' Life magazine, she admitted she doesn't "relate" to Lily too much, as the character is known for being disrespectful to her parents and dropping dramatic one-liners.

Style-wise, Anderson-Emmons is quite a bit different from Lily, who was often portrayed dressed to the nines in dresses and other girly attire. Of her real-life look, she told Girls' Life, "One day I'll look more goth and the next more hippie." In 2021, she told YayOMG's Girls With Influence column that she likes to experiment with her clothes and makeup. "Some of my favorite aesthetics are hippie/cottagecore, Y2K, and edgy," she said at the time.

She also likes to change up her hair. A few months after posting the photos of her half-and-half hairstyle, Anderson-Emmons colored her hair a dark red, as seen on Instagram in March 2023.
