Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Trailer Has Fans Googly-Eyed Over Baby Mayday
Sony's gearing up for the release of "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," releasing a trailer for the highly-anticipated comic book movie. The studio gave fans a great look at the sequel, including the hundreds of Spider-people featured throughout its story. While Miguel O'Hara, Scarlett Spider, and Jessica Drew are all set to make their big-screen debuts, fans can't help but focus on one of the younger Spideys shown in the trailer, Mayday Parker.
The daughter of Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) and Mary Jane (Zoe Kravitz), Mayday is on full display in the trailer, having already developed her Spider abilities. We can only assume that Peter B. is taking his parenting to the next level, preparing her to one day become Spider-Girl. We see her swinging from webs, sporting a mechanical web shooter perfect for a child, and climbing up a wall. It's all adorable, and fans couldn't get enough of it.
On Reddit, u/Link2Sora simply wrote, "Mayday is adorable," while u/dornwolf said her "little swing and wall crawl" were fantastic. It looks like "Across the Spider-Verse" has a scene-stealer on its hands with Mayday, and the cuteness train doesn't end there.
Fans can't get enough of Mayday
The Mayday-focused discussion continued on Reddit, with u/JackFisherBooks suggesting, "Baby Mayday is definitely the highlight for me. I have a feeling she'll be the Baby Yoda of this movie." U/wowlock_taylan summed up the internet's sentiment on Mayday with a perfect "MAYDAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY."
Mayday's influence also spread to Twitter, with @MrTonitas_II posting screenshots of the baby with the simple caption, "Awwww, Mayday Parker." @GeekZoneGZ couldn't stop chanting her name while @brooklynvtc1 pointed out, "STAHHHPPP. She's missing a sock?!" as the character swung with just a single sock on her tiny little feet. @Jak70760853 and @tarshit_r couldn't help but point out the cuteness overload that her small appearance in the trailer brought.
@Sighsin616 wrote, "MAYDAY. WE WON. MARVEL EDITORIAL SHAKING," referencing the ongoing battle between comic book readers and Marvel Comics' editorial team. For decades, fans have wanted to see Peter Parker and MJ progress in life, get married, and start a family. However, Marvel refuses to give in, choosing to forgo the character development and keep Peter as a young Spider-Man. Hopefully, Mayday's inclusion in "Across the Spider-Verse" gives Marvel Comics the boost it needs to bring Mayday into the 616 universe.
While fans won't have to wait too much longer before the film's June 2, 2023 release, little Mayday is already leaving a good impression.
