Invincible Theory: Season 2 Will End On A Cliffhanger Of Angstrom & Mark's Battle
Early in 2021, Amazon Prime Video dropped the first season of "Invincible." It quickly developed a rabid fanbase, and with a cliffhanger ending suggesting Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) will have to go up against an army of Viltrumites, things will only get harder for the budding hero in the episodes to come. However, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons) and the Viltrumites are just one antagonist from the comics. Mark contends with numerous villains, and many fans believe "Invincible" Season 2 will prominently feature Angstrom Levy.
In the comics, Angstrom is a supervillain genius with the ability to travel across dimensions. He often collaborates with other versions of himself to gain the upper hand against Invincible, including learning his secret identity. Plus, he's already been teased in a short trailer for the upcoming season. As Mark enjoys a meal with Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen), two figures are seen sitting behind Allen. These are indeed two versions of Angstrom stalking Mark when he least expects it.
Amazon renewed "Invincible" for Seasons 2 and 3, so there's room for the writers to play with and tease out longer storylines, knowing the show will be around for a while. And some fans know exactly the storyline Season 2 should end with to set up a thrilling Season 3.
Potential spoilers for future episodes of "Invincible" ahead.
Invincible Season 2 should end with Mark discovering the true extent of his powers
Redditor u/5am281 posted a panel from the "Invincible" comic books of Mark defeating Angstrom in battle, beating him into a bloody pulp. All he can say of the carnage is, "Oh god," and many believe this would make the perfect cliffhanger to Season 2 to set up a more intriguing Season 3. It's an important development in Mark's journey as it's one of his first big, ruthless kills and shows how powerful he can be. Redditor u/1kg_of_feathers agreed, "What showrunner in their right mind wouldn't end a season on a cliffhanger like this?"
While others could definitely see the moment transpiring in some capacity in the upcoming season, they think it could play out differently. Redditor u/sut345 suggested, "I doubt they will finish the season on this scene but its %100 in the final episode. Probably they will handle this scene like how they handled Nolan leaving the earth. This scene is probably somewhere in the middle of the episode, then things calms down a bit, they show the aftermath of the fight between Mark and Angstrom(future guardians saving mark, eve's obsession with him and a couple of other scenes setting things up for Season 3) than the season will end."
It's only a matter of time until Angstrom is properly introduced in the "Invincible" TV show. Comics creator Robert Kirkman even teased the character on Twitter. Fans have been awfully patient, but their patience should be rewarded soon when "Invincible" Season 2 comes out later this year.
