Yellowjackets: Jackie's Death Raises Questions About Javi's Survival

Contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets" Season 2, Episode 4 — "Old Wounds"

So far in Season 2 of "Yellowjackets," there has been the looming question of what happened to Javi (Luciano Leroux), who has been missing since Season 1, Episode 9, "Doomcoming." For some of the team members, most notably Natalie (Sophie Thatcher), Javi is presumed dead. Other Yellowjackets, however, aren't so sure that Javi died. 

For instance, Lottie (Courtney Eaton) is convinced she has seen visions of Javi alive, and his older brother, Travis (Kevin Alves), is desperate to believe he is alive. This leads Natalie to take a pair of pants from Javi's suitcase and fabricate blood on them to convince Travis that Javi died. Natalie's plan backfires in Season 2, Episode 4, "Old Wounds," when it is revealed that Javi is alive.

Javi being alive has fans thinking back to Jackie's (Ella Purnell) death in Season 1. After a full season of knowing that Jackie likely didn't make it out alive, it was revealed Jackie froze to death while sleeping outside. Because of this, fans like @barilace wonder how Javi did not freeze to death.

"So how the hell did Javi survive?" They asked on Twitter, then proposing that if it were due to magic, then magic could do the same for Jackie and bring her back. @barilace also had a laughing emoji, implying this was a joke. After all, Season 2, Episode 3 confirmed the rest of Jackie's teammates feasted on her roasted body. While this tweet was a joke, how Javi outlived Jackie is a valid question.

Now that fans know Javi is alive, fans realize the logic isn't adding up since Jackie died after one night in the cold; however Javi survived weeks on his own. Because of this, fans are wondering if there's more to the story.

"I don't think that's the real Javi that came back from the woods," @tjopearson posted. "Maybe that's what Travis meant in his note to Natalie, saying she [was] right." Meanwhile, @glazedaries noted the emotional repercussions of the nonsensical situation. 

"Javi surviving the same cold that killed Jackie must be so heartbreaking for Shauna," they posted.

Other fans expressed disbelief at the situation. For instance, @ohweisz questioned how Javi survived the same winter that killed Jackie instantly. @lastkissperry also wondered about this, claiming it is hard to believe Javi would survive that long. Finally one fan, @Theeunworth, expressed their disbelief at the situation with a laughing gif and the following statement.

"Javi surviving the same thing Jackie dies of in one night for a whole month."
