Resident Alien Season 3 Filming Continues As Cast Members Share Photos From Set
In "Resident Alien," Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle (Alan Tudyk), or rather the extraterrestrial assuming his identity, starts on a mission to destroy Earth. But as the series continues, Harry becomes more of Earth's defender as he begins to understand human emotions. He also experiences more wonderfully strange moments, like caring for a half-human, half-alien child and encountering his future self. It's just the everyday life of the extraordinary Harry in the small town of Patience, Colorado. And fortunately, we're going to see more of it. Last year, Season 3 of "Resident Alien" was announced, but without an official date.
But just in case anyone had questions about how the filming of the anticipated season was going, the best move might be to check the social media accounts of the show's cast. Tudyk's Instagram includes a post of his character giving the alien thumbs up behind the scenes. Meanwhile, Sheriff Mike Thompson and Deputy Liv Baker appear ready to uphold the law in Patience, as a post from actor Elizabeth Bowen showed her and Corey Reynolds in uniform again. However, the latest slides from Sara Tomko, who plays Asta Twelvetrees, are probably a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes moments. Besides numerous pics with other castmates, Tomko also included a shot of everyone during a table read for Season 3. While the shared photos are exciting proof to fans that work is definitely continuing on the upcoming season, they're pretty scarce on any major plot details. Fortunately, series showrunner Chris Sheridan did provide a few story teases for next season.
Harry will be teaming up with an old enemy
The Season 2 finale of "Resident Alien" delivered many drastic storyline points primed to shake up things for Season 3. But the most surprising came from Harry meeting with his previous foe, General McCallister (Linda Hamilton). A warning from Harry's future self-revealed that McCallister may be the key to saving everything. And with Harry trying to figure out the Greys' next move, an unlikely team-up seems to be on the horizon for the two. While speaking with TV Line, "Resident Alien" showrunner Chris Sheridan confirmed that would likely be the case, mainly because McCallister offers some necessary resources.
"McCallister has a lot of things at her disposal from a military standpoint that Harry can get involved in and use," Sheridan told TV Line. "They'll be working out of a brand-new military base we haven't seen yet. There's a lot of fun stuff ahead."
Fun for Season 3 may also include the appearance of other aliens, as Sheridan later teased in the same interview. We already know that one Harry will be dealing with is the Grey/Human hybrid Joseph Rainer (Enver Gjokaj), who has become a deputy in Patience, Colorado, to keep watch over Harry. The two will likely clash again in their unexpectedly petty manner, similar to what we witnessed in the Season 2 finale. Maybe that means more annoying parking tickets from Joseph. In any case, fans are sure to be all for it due to Tudyk and Gjokaj's humorous chemistry.
