Keanu Reeves Limps After Shooting Rain-Soaked Scene For John Wick 3: Parabellum

John Wick may be near-invincible, but the actor who plays him isn't.

New videos from the set of John Wick 3: Parabellum show Keanu Reeves running through heavy rain while filming a scene. As soon as the take is complete, Reeves limps in pain and hunches over in the street near the sidewalk, rocking back and forth to stretch out the tendons and ligaments in his knees and shake off the discomfort.

The second of the two set videos, posted on Twitter by Hollywood Pipeline, sees Reeves and his gray Pitbull pup pal hailing a cab. In the last few seconds of the clip, it appears that Reeves is still wary to put weight on his bum knee, as he hobbles a bit while walking towards the yellow taxi.

While it makes sense from a storytelling standpoint that Reeves' John would be bruised-up and battered in the film, given that it follows the expert assassin as he bolts through New York City in hopes of outrunning the hundreds of people after the $14 million bounty on his head, it's disconcerting to see that the actor isn't, well, acting — not completely.

Actors constantly put themselves in danger, particularly action stars like Reeves and Mission: Impossible lead Tom Cruise (who has nearly died on set so many times, we're starting to believe he's part cat), and it seems based on these videos that Reeves may have taken a tumble while performing a stunt for John Wick 3: Parabellum. It wouldn't be the first time he's done that, that's for sure.

Way back in 2001 while shooting The Matrix, Reeves complained of "pain in his left ankle after the rehearsal of a tough stunt," and was later put in a cast. Just a few weeks ago, the actor was spotted on the Parabellum set with a bandage around his thumb. A different snap, this time of the film's actual action, showed Reeves' John wearing a black sleeve over his ring finger — suggesting that the character gets it cut off at some point in the movie. Did Reeves injure his thumb while shooting a finger-hacking sequence? And if he did, did he bang-up his knee in another scene? Is Reeves going super method and getting hurt whenever John does?

At this point, we can't say for certain whether John Wick will walk with a noticeable limp in Parabellum after some brutal run-in with someone who wants him dead, or if Reeves' injury even ends up in the movie, but we're wishing the star a speedy recovering in any case.

John Wick 3: Parabellum will open on May 17, 2019.
