Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Teaser: Millie Bobby Brown Calls To Monarch
"Are you there, Monarch? It's me, Millie."
Wednesday evening during San Diego Comic-Con, Legendary Entertainment treated the world to the first teaser from Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The footage, just 51 seconds long, centers around Millie Bobby Brown's character Madison, a young teen attempting to get in touch with Monarch, the monster-studying organization her mother, Vera Farmiga's Dr. Emma Russell, works for.
Where Dr. Russell specializes in studying MUTO — "massive unidentified terrestrial organisms" like the town-clobbering Godzilla — and aims to develop a strategy to keep them out of the city streets and suppress them if they do, another corporation ventures to scoop up her findings and use it for their own wicked whims: to wrangle Godzilla and three other mega-monsters in and control them.
Though she fails to contact Monarch, Madison is still successful in reaching someone, as the line drops into what sounds like an intense battle between Monarch members and a brutish beast. There's gunfire, frantic voices, and unearthly, guttural screeches sounding off in the background. And Madison covers her ears in horror at what she hears, we can't help but wonder one thing: Which monster is Monarch fighting? The massive Mothra, the three-headed King Ghidorah, Godzilla's flying nemesis Rodan, or the atomic flame-breathing giant lizard himself?
We'll probably have to wait until Godzilla: King of the Monsters opens on May 31, 2019 to get the answer to that question.
For now, watch (and rewatch a few extra times, like we have) the teaser above, then check out two new banners for the film below.
