Aquaman Trailer: Hail To The King Of The Seven Seas
Aquaman has arrived.
Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for its anticipated next installment in the DC movie universe, Aquaman. Watch the trailer up above.
After first appearing as a supporting player in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, Jason Momoa's Aquaman is finally getting his chance to shine in a solo movie, proving himself to be a capable hero of the land, air, and sea.
The trailer shows the human-Atlantean mixed origins of Arthur Curry, the son of a lighthouse keeper and a member of Atlantean royalty. Torn between two worlds, Curry is forced into an undersea power struggle as his half-brother King Orm, the Ocean Master, prepares to consolidate power and attack the surface world. He's like a shark-riding version of Aragorn, basically. And yes, he can still talk to fish.
This first look also features Amber Heard as Mera, she of the Ariel-esque extremely bright red hair, and Patrick Wilson as Orm, the current king of Atlantis. There's also an excellent look at Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, who's wearing one of the comic bookiest costumes we might have ever seen in one of these movies, Marvel or DC. Those big eyes! It's great.
Directed by James Wan, Aquaman was written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Will Beall, with a story by Geoff Johns & James Wan and Will Beall.
Aquaman will be out in theaters on December 21.
