Elmarie Wendel, 3rd Rock From The Sun Actress, Dies At 89

Elmarie Wendel, the actress best known for her work as Mrs. Mamie Dubcek on the NBC sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun, has died. She was 89 years old.

On Sunday, July 22, Wendel's daughter, actress Jennifer "JC" Wendel, confirmed news of her mother's passing. JC uploaded to Instagram a photo of her mother with her 3rd Rock from the Sun castmates, writing in the caption, "#ripelmariewendel you were a great mom and a badass dame."

Fellow 3rd Rock star Jim Beaver, who portrayed Happy Doug, took to Twitter to remember the late actress.

"I've just heard from her daughter JC that my friend and colleague from 3rd Rock from the Sun, Elmarie Wendel, has died. She was raucous, funny, endearing, and terribly, terribly sweet," Beaver wrote. "Goodnight, Mrs. Dubcek, wherever you are."

Outside of 3rd Rock from the Sun, Wendel also appeared on episodes of George Lopez, General Hospital, Knight Rider, NYPD Blue, Murphy Brown, The Jeffersons, The Facts of Life, Seinfeld, and Murder, She Wrote. She later proved her talents as a voice actress, lending her pipes to Aunt Grizelda in the 2012 animated musical fantasy-comedy film The Lorax and to several characters — Mandy Stiles, Cathy, and Pulowski — in Bethesda's post-apocalyptic action role-playing game Fallout 4

Our thoughts are with Wendel's loved ones during this time of mourning.
