Tales Of The Walking Dead: Terry Crews Swoons For The Franchise & Wants To Come Back
Expanding the "Walking Dead" universe further, AMC's "Tales of the Walking Dead" takes the franchise in a new direction. The series is told in an anthology format, spotlighting numerous characters at various points during the apocalypse. One such individual is Joe, who ventures out into the zombie-infested world in hopes of meeting with his former online friend. Oft-forgotten "CSI: Miami" alum Terry Crews is responsible for bringing the character to life, and he was more than happy to do so, considering how much he adores the "Walking Dead" world. In fact, he's ready to return to it any day now.
Chatting with FandomWire, Crews said that especially since the revelation that fan favorites Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) are set to star in their own "Walking Dead" miniseries, he feels interest has renewed in the overall franchise. Therefore, with so many other spin-offs on the way, he's hopeful that there's a spot for Joe somewhere in the mix. "I am open, I wanna leave it open, I am willing to do any of that. I wanna come back in this world," he said, and seeing as Joe survives his "Tales of the Walking Dead" episode, bringing him back wouldn't be implausible.
To make Joe's return even easier, Crews has explained just how versatile the character is in terms of where he could show up next.
Crews sees endless possibilities for Joe
Terry Crews' Joe is an interesting character compared to most others in the "Walking Dead" universe. Most were blindsided by the start of the zombie apocalypse, as where he has spent much of his life preparing for the end of the world. As evidenced by his well-stocked bunker, and the fact that he escapes the events of "Evie / Joe" with his life, he's a survivor first and foremost. With that in mind, Crews sees any number of storytelling possibilities for the character at virtually any point on the "Walking Dead" timeline.
"What I do love is the fact that it's so early in the mythology. They can be a part of all these beautiful backstories," Crews told SyFy of Joe and his unexpected companion Evie (Olivia Munn). In terms of specific stories he'd like to see them undertake, the "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star mentions that he'd love to see the duo work with "Walking Dead" favorite Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun). Naturally, this adventure would have to take place prior to his demise in the "Walking Dead" Season 7 episode "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be."
As the "Walking Dead" franchise continues its period of rapid expansion, one can only hope that Terry Crews gets the chance to play Joe at least one more time.
