Where To Watch Transformers 5: The Last Knight
"Transformers 5: The Last Knight" premiered in 2017, directly continuing the timeline established in the original "Transformers" movie 10 years prior. While "The Last Knight" flopped at the box office, it's still essential viewing for "Transformers" film series completionists as a mainline entry. Once "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" premieres in theaters in June, the franchise will have grown two films larger — however, both subsequent releases are prequels. "The Last Knight" may nevertheless benefit from a rewatch or even a first-time viewing with "Rise of the Beasts" in mind in order to see how the upcoming prequel might recolor its story.
Perhaps the simplest way to stream "The Last Knight" online is with a subscription to the Paramount+ YouTube Primetime Channel. Notably, this channel differs in some key ways from the standard Paramount+ streaming service. In fact, while Paramount+ features a few "Transformers" movies, "The Last Knight" is not included among those, meaning that the Paramount+ YouTube Primetime Channel is the only streaming service, so to speak, on which "The Last Knight" is available.
Those without access to this channel, or anyone simply interested in buying or renting "The Last Knight" à la carte can find the film on virtually all major digital storefronts. Currently, Redbox offers "The Last Knight" for a dollar cheaper than its competitors, which include Google Play, Vudu, and virtually every other usual suspect.
The Transformers timeline is gradually becoming more complicated
Moving forward, "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" will hit theaters on June 9, introducing the giant animal robots from the "Beast Wars" spin-off of the original cartoon series to the live-action film franchise for the first time.
Although "Rise of the Beasts" is the seventh film entry, it takes place chronologically prior to each of its predecessors save for the 2018 "Bumblebee" movie. "Bumblebee" is set in the '80s, during which the Autobots hide on Earth amidst their ongoing war against the Decepticons. Meanwhile, "Rise of the Beasts" takes place the following decade, still prior to the timeline of "Transformers," but well after the events of "Bumblebee."
For the time being, then, "The Last Knight," will remain the chronologically latest franchise entry, even in the wake of two subsequent releases. Nevertheless, with "Rise of the Beasts" on its way, fans of the "Transformers" films both new and old may nevertheless want to watch "The Last Knight" either before or after "Rise of the Beasts," if only for a refresher on the series thus far now that it's about to grow a little larger and more complex.
