Every MCU Actor In Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
The live-action side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its animated counterpart often cross over in unique ways. Marvel has taken the opportunity to continue telling various alternate universe versions of its mainline series and film worlds in the Disney+ series "What If...?" Oftentimes, the MCU actors who play live-action versions of the characters used in these "What If...?" segments return to vocally reprise the roles they've made famous.
But what about Sony Pictures' series of Spider-Man films? While Marvel Studios hasn't established a direct crossover link between Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and the MCU world and no characters from the MCU version of Marvel exist within its bounds as of press time, the two franchises definitely share actors — they just play different roles in each branch of the Marvel universe. In the upcoming "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," a surprising number of actors bear those dual roles. Four different actors appear in both live-action Marvel films and TV series and provide voices for Sony's Spider-Verse.
The actors in question? Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Brian Tyree Henry, and Daniel Kaluuya.
Here's who each actor plays in the MCU and the Sony Spider-Verse
What's interesting about this crossover of epic proportions is that each actor anchors a vital role in each world. Though the roles do not connect, they definitely paint a picture of Marvel's expansive talent pool.
To wit: in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hailee Steinfeld is the plucky arrow-slinging Kate Bishop. For Sony, she voices Gwen Stacy, the hoodie-wearing, drum-playing Spider-Gwen. Oscar Isaac, of course, was the titular and inimitable Moon Knight for Disney+, he of many faces and personalities. In "Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse," his identity is quite singular; he voices Miguel O'Hara, the uber-serious Spider-Man 2099.
Brian Tyree Henry returns to the role he made famous in "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" and will once more portray Jefferson Davis, Miles Morales' policeman father. In the live-action Marvel world, he plays brainy Phastos of "Eternals" fame. And lastly, Daniel Kaluuya plays the fearlessly rebellious Hobart "Hobie" Brown, the guitar-slinging Spider-Punk. Within the Marvel film world, he's the fierce but doubting W'Kabi, one of T'Challa's (Chadwick Boseman) closest allies in "Black Panther."
Hopefully, one day there will be even more actors bouncing between both properties. "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" will open worldwide on June 2.
