Sabrina The Teenage Witch: The Ryan Reynolds Character Only Real Fans Remember
Every fan of "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" will likely remember Sabrina Spellman's (Melissa Joan Hart) complicated but always-fun world. They're also likely to remember her long-lived relationship with Harvey Kinkle (Nate Richert). Though Sabrina nearly marries another guy, Harvey and Sabrina ultimately ride off into the sunset together at the conclusion of the show, but Harvey wasn't Sabrina's only boyfriend. As a matter of fact, one of those love interests was portrayed by Ryan Reynolds.
In the 1996 film "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" — a Showtime-produced film which served as a launching pad and prequel for Sabrina's sitcom adventures — Sabrina is pursued by two men. One is school jock Seth (Reynolds), and the other is Harvey (Tobias Mehler).
Seth happens to be the boyfriend of Sabrina's rival, Katie La More (Lalainia Lindbjerg), and Sabrina tries to use her magic to charm Seth into seeing her as a romantic option, overlooking Harvey. Though Katie dumps Seth, and Sabrina gets a chance to take him to the Spring Fling dance, she realizes Seth is a jerk and dumps him for Harvey.
While Seth and Sabrina weren't meant to be, the characters have chemistry. Hart even admitted that sense of attraction carried over to her real-life friendship with Ryan Reynolds.
Melissa Joan Hart admits she had a little crush on Ryan Reynolds
In an interview with the Australian morning show Studio 10 in 2017, Melissa Joan Hart admitted she and Ryan Reynolds had a brief flirtation during their time filming "Sabrina the Teenage Witch."
"He was very sweet. I had a boyfriend at the time, but we were smitten and cute, and he was adorable," she said. "He was a really, really nice guy. Probably would have been a great boyfriend, and I didn't end up with the other guy, so maybe I should have taken a chance."
Hart, who has been happily married since 2003 to Mark Wilkerson and has three sons with him, doesn't regret her life turning out the way it has. It's still delightful, though, to learn that she, just like many other folks, had a major crush on Reynolds at one point in her life.
