Here's Where You Can Stream The Amazing Spider-Man 2
The era of cinema that we're living through has arguably been marked first and foremost, so far, by superhero films — not just in their vast number and market ubiquity, but in the degree to which they've reworked the rules of franchise planning and execution, and changed the way we think about the blockbuster release cycle.
Just for starters, we have superhero movies to thank for "cinematic universes" becoming a trend again in the 21st century. And the "Spider-Man" film arch-series has shown itself to be a particularly fascinating example of how complex the franchising machinery can get nowadays: Following two different cinematic iterations of the character, both produced and distributed by Sony Pictures, Spider-Man was finally able to find his way into the Disney-owned Marvel Cinematic Universe by way of a licensing agreement between Sony and Marvel Studios, with the caveat of having to possibly leave the MCU's continuity eventually — all of which led to the grand feat of universe-transforming, multiverse-hopping synergy that was "Spider-Man: No Way Home."
Now, with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) caught somewhere in the midst of the ever-complex licensing deals between Sony and Disney, that has left some fans confused as to where to watch the adventures of Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) and Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) — including the latter's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," which gets revisited in "No Way Home" via the reappearance of Electro (Jamie Foxx). Thankfully, there are a few options — though, even now, Disney+ is still not one of them.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 can be streamed on Starz
In a welcome bit of news for fans who previously struggled to find them all in one place, several live-action "Spider-Man" films were recently added to Disney+, as announced on the streamer's official Twitter profile. But "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is still a notable exception.
In fact, there are only two places where the 2014 Marc Webb-directed film can be currently streamed at no additional charge in the United States. One of them is Starz. Per JustWatch, the streaming service of the eponymous premium cable network currently holds the Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone-starring superhero flick, and, naturally, the same is true of the Starz channels on Amazon Prime Video and Roku. The other place where you can watch "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" without shelling out any extra money if you're already a subscriber is DirecTV.
DirecTV is also one of the platforms where "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" can be rented out or bought as an individual title regardless of one's subscription status. Other such platforms include Amazon Prime Video, Redbox, Google Play Movies, Apple TV, YouTube, the Microsoft Store, Vudu, and Spectrum On Demand if you're looking to rent the film. If you want to make a permanent purchase so you can watch "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" whenever you might feel inclined, meanwhile, it's available to be bought on all the same platforms where it can be rented — save for Spectrum On Demand, and with the addition of AMC on Demand.
