Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse - Who Is Spider-Byte & What Are Her Powers?

"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" shook up the world of its iconic hero more than any silver screen adventure ever before. Not only did the movie barely feature Peter Parker as we generally know him, but it also introduced six alternate versions of the character, including Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage), Ghost-Spider (Hailee Steinfeld), and, of course, Miles Morales' (Shameik Moore) take on the iconic web-slinger.

"Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" looks like it will shake up this formula even more, however, as hundreds of different Spider-People and even Spider-Creatures have been seen throughout its trailers. Just one of these new additions is Spider-Byte (Amandla Stenberg), a college student who hails from a reality where basically everything from classes to errands is done online.

As such, Spider-Byte, whose real name is Margo, has taken to fighting crime in cyberspace, chasing down all manner of cybercriminals via her digital avatar. In the digital world, her suit protects her identity and allows her to teleport. Naturally, it also includes the classic pair of web shooters that fans would expect from just about any of the heroes featured in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse"

Spider-Byte is a tech wizard, even in her tech-obsessed world

Spider-Byte eventually joins the Spider Society in the Marvel comics to battle a group of hunters, The Inheritors, who seek out animal-human hybrids, which they then kill and consume. However, the threat in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" looks to be a little bit less intense.

In "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," Miles Morales is recruited by the Spider Society to stop the interdimensional threat posed by The Spot (Jason Schwartzman) and meets countless new Spider-People as a result. How Spider-Byte's abilities will be utilized in this epic, reality-threatening struggle remains to be seen, however.

Given her technical prowess, it seems likely that she could be the one tasked with tracing The Spot's various breaches of the dimensional wall so that the Spider Society can finally put a stop to the menace. As the trailer appears to show that Miles will eventually be at odds with the other heroes in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," it's also possible that some of the other Spider Society members could side with him.

While Gwen Stacy will likely back him up, considering the close bond they formed in "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," it's possible that others could side with the hero as well. If he's lucky, maybe he can count the tech-savvy Spider-Byte among them.
