Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season Two Trailer Takes The Show On The Road
Midge is back at it. Amazon Prime has posted the trailer for season two of their Golden Globe-winning streaming series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and it looks like they're taking the show on the road.
The show stars Rachel Brosnahan as Midge Maisel, a 1950s comedienne. In season one, the titular character began her career in stand up comedy after being abruptly and unceremoniously left by her husband. The series follows her ups and downs as an entertainer trying to make it in a male-dominated field.
The preview for season two promises road work for Maisel, with the clearly elated protagonist exclaiming, "We're going to the Catskills," referring to the region of southeast New York that became synonymous with stand up comedy in the 20th century, known to comics at the time as "the Borscht Belt."
The trailer opens with Maisel discussing her love life with her mother in a salon, before breaking into a colorful montage of footage set to Judy Garland singing "Get Happy."
Also featured prominently: the Miss Steiner 1959 swimsuit competition, the return of Alex Borstein as Susie Myerson, Midge's comedy career manager, as well as national treasure and verified 8th wonder of the world Tony Shalhoub doing lunges in a speedsuit.
Aside from what's shown in the trailer, not much is known about the plot of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's second season. The show's producers have been tight lipped about the plot, but things might not look great for the show's heroine, with Brosnahan recently quoted in USA Today as saying "I can't say a whole lot about where she's headed in Season 2, but good things can't last long." Things can't get too bleak, though. The series has already been picked up for a third season.
Season two of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is scheduled to premiere this winter.
