Who Sings The Frasier Theme Song?
Most popular sitcoms have remarkably catchy theme songs, but few can rival the iconic tune from "Frasier." Just the phrase "tossed salads and scrambled eggs" is enough to get the song reverberating in the minds of most fans. However, despite being one of the most well-known TV songs out there, there are likely a fair number of "Frasier" devotees who aren't aware of who the vocalist actually is, even though the person in question is one of the most important figures on the show.
"Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs" is actually sung by Kelsey Grammer, who also plays the titular lead of the series. Not many shows have their theme songs performed by their lead actor, but Grammer marks a rare case where the series star got to show off his singing prowess as well. Grammer's rendition of the theme song is retained all throughout the life of the original "Frasier," and he even re-recorded a new version of the song for use in the 2023 "Frasier" revival.
Kelsey Grammer has a musical background
Fans may not have expected Kelsey Grammer to be the person who sings the "Frasier" theme song, as the star isn't exactly a famous singer-turned-actor or the other way around. However, that doesn't mean he doesn't have any experience with music. In fact, the actor has quite a bit of history in the field dating back to his school days.
In an interview with Classic FM, Grammer revealed that he actually dabbled in singing as a teenager, as his music teacher at school ensured that much of the male student body participated in choir. Grammar stuck with it for a time, even going on to take voice lessons. However, he decided not to make singing his career path when he realized that he "just didn't quite have the juice to become an opera singer." Still, his vocals for "Frasier" demonstrate that these early experiences have come in handy for his career as an actor.
The voice isn't the only instrument Grammer has taken an interest in either. By the actor's account, he has a very casual knowledge of how to play several instruments, and he particularly enjoys playing the piano. "It's contemplative for me," he said. "It's an avocation, rather than anything I make a living out of. I love it."
