Tiffany Haddish Presents Jada Pinkett Smith With Trailblazer Award At 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards

Jada Pinkett Smith received the Trailblazer Award at the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards, paving the way for powerful women everywhere.

Tiffany Haddish, who co-starred with Pinkett Smith in Girls Trip, presented her with the award after the ceremony ran a reel including her work as an actor, activist, and philanthropist — with testimonials from stars like Alicia Keys and Queen Latifah, who described Pinkett Smith as "real."

Pinkett Smith said in her speech that while she admires the trailblazers who came before her, she wanted to acknowledge the quieter people who have forged paths before her, whether it's trailblazing "within or without." Graciously, she gave her speech to the stars and fans in the audience, acknowledging that they helped raise her to where she is now and that each of them were trailblazers in their own right.

From The Matrix: Reloaded to Madagascar to Girls Trip, Pinkett Smith has proven herself to be a powerhouse performer as well as a relatable star, so it's no surprise that MTV chose to honor her with the Trailblazer Award, which previously been awarded to stars like Lena Waithe, Shailene Woodley, Emma Stone, and more. As the next deserving recipient of the award, Pinkett Smith surely has many more projects and trailblazing work ahead of her in the years to come. She's currently heading up a talk show (which Haddish described as a "show with real talk") called Red Table Talk, where she chats with everyone from her family to her co-stars in a completely open, honest space, where nothing is off limits. And come August 23, Pinkett Smith will return to the silver screen in Angel Has Fallen, the third flick in the Olympus Has Fallen film series.
