First Look At Anthony Hopkins In Thor: Ragnarok
When we last saw Odin (Anthony Hopkins) in 2013's Thor: The Dark World, he turned out to be Loki in disguise–which means their dad is either dead, imprisoned, or exiled from Asgard. But now we know Hopkins will reprise his role in Thor: Ragnarok, and Odin looks very much alive, albeit a little dirty.
Comingsoon.net has posted new photos from the Australian set of the movie, and Hopkins is definitely there, although his character is a little worse for wear. He's wandering around the streets of Brisbane (made to look like New York City).
Potential spoilers for Thor: Ragnarok
Cinema Blend has a plot theory that seems to check out. When the third Thor movie begins, Odin will reportedly be wandering around New York as a crazed derelict preaching the end of days. As Geek.com notes, it's almost impossible for Loki to have killed Odin when he's not in the Odinsleep. That means it's likely that Loki stripped him of his powers and banished Odin to Earth. Meanwhile, after Loki faked his own death, he would have been the one in charge of Asgard since The Dark World.
Might this all somehow tie into Thor's possible visit with Doctor Strange? We'll find out when Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters Nov. 3.
