Raised By Wolves Season 2 - What We Know So Far
Raised by Wolves begins with two androids landing on a mysterious planet. Their main goal appears to be raising human children, but since this is a sci-fi dystopia, their wishes don't go according to plan. Although the first season of the HBO Max series only recently finished, audience members are already looking ahead to a second season.
The question of what would happen if two androids raised humans is an enticing one, and it didn't take long for Raised by Wolves to become a top-performing original on WarnerMedia's new streaming service, HBO Max. Therefore, it was a foregone conclusion that Raised by Wolves would see another season, and as predicted, the ambitious series from Alien and Blade Runner auteur Ridley Scott has already been renewed.
Fans, needless to say, are excited about season 2, and head of HBO Max Sarah Aubrey's description of the series should only amplify that feeling.
"When I think of Raised By Wolves, I think of artistry; artistry in crafting a compelling storyline, artistry in the out-of-this-world production design, special effects and cinematography, artistry in our actors' portrayals of these memorable characters, and artistry attached to the legendary work of Ridley Scott, Aaron Guzikowski and our phenomenal crew," Aubrey said in a statement (via Deadline). "This chart-topping series beautifully weaves together Ridley's hallmarks of sci-fi and horror while offering fans one of the most original storylines they've seen in some time. I can't wait to see what's in store for Season 2."
Here's everything we know about Raised by Wolves season 2 so far.
What's the release date for Raised by Wolves season 2?
While a release date for the newest installment of Raised by Wolves has yet to be announced, season 2 has already been given the green light. As with all series, we can only base the release date of Raised by Wolves season 2 on previous seasons' releases and production timelines. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, delays have become a matter of course, and predicting a timetable for any production has become nearly impossible.
Compounding this issue is the fact that HBO is known for its highly ambitious shows (and more than a few scandals), which often require longer production timelines (the ambitious shows, not the scandals). It's not uncommon for an HBO show to take more than a year to produce. A 2022 or later premiere is possible, but that timeline is based entirely on assumptions at this point. For what it's worth, season 1 premiered on HBO Max on September 3, 2020, so a fall 2021 release remains possible, as well.
Who's in the cast of Raised by Wolves season 2?
We won't know the exact cast of Raised by Wolves season 2 until HBO Max makes an official announcement. Based on the ending of the first season, though, we have a pretty good idea of some actors who should return for the new season.
Of course, it would be hard to picture a Raised by Wolves season 2 without Amanda Collin's Mother and Abubakar Salim's Father. Travis Fimmel's Marcus, Winta McGrath's Campion, and Niamh Algar's Sue are all likely to make a return as well. Aasiya Shah as Holly, Ethan Hazzard as Hunter, Felix Jamieson as Paul, Ivy Wong as Vita, Jordan Loughran as Tempest, and others could also appear in season 2, since their stories remain open from season 1.
It remains to be seen where the show's creators plan on taking Raised by Wolves, but there's a fair chance new stars will be introduced to the cast as the story expands, so stay tuned for official word from the production team.
What's the plot of Raised by Wolves season 2?
The plot of Raised by Wolves season 2 has yet to be revealed, but if the end of the inaugural season is a sneak peek, then chapter 2 will see more of Mother's weird snake baby, as well as Mother and Father on the tropical side of the planet Kepler-22b. Although so much can happen from now until season 2 makes its grand entrance, and season 1 left so many questions unanswered, showrunner Aaron Guzikowski has already dropped some revelations.
"There'll be more flashbacks [in season 2] and perhaps some present day Earth peeks as well to see what might be going on there after everything's over, because there are still necromancers on Earth," Guzikowski said in an interview with Collider. "They were left behind, most of them. The Mithraic obviously didn't want to bring any with them. They were done with them, didn't trust them. So they left them on Earth except for the one they found waiting for them on Kepler-22b."
