Who Is The Actress That Plays Ana On Marvel's Helstrom?

The Hulu original production of Helstrom is the first horror-themed TV title to come from Marvel. The show airs for the first time on Hulu on October 16, 2020, and the teaser trailer for the first season, quite frankly, isn't for the faint of heart. The trailer really highlights the dark and doomy aesthetic of the show, complete with spooky soundtrack and plenty of jump scares.

The show is based on the Helstrom comics in the Marvel comic book universe, and revolves around two anti-hero siblings: Ana (Sydney Lemmon) and Daimon (Tom Austen) Helstrom. The brother-sister duo are children of a serial killer who face supernatural and super-powered terrors. Now would be a good time to dive a little deeper into the comics and give you a bit of background on the Helstrom family, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, the show doesn't have many similarities with comic books outside of the character's names.

It will, however, feature some familiar faces. Ana Helstrom, for example, is played by actor Sydney Lemmon. You might not know her name, yet, but Lemmon's face is definitely recognizable, especially to genre TV fans. Here's where you've seen her before.

Where you've seen Helstrom's Sydney Lemmon

Marvel's Helstrom seems to be Sydney Lemmon's first leading role, but it's far from her first acting role. Lemmon's IMDb page has several credits reaching back to 2014. In the scheme of things, she's fairly new to the mainstream acting scene and has only had small roles to date, but some of those roles were on extremely popular TV shows.

In 2018, Lemmon appeared in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Hell's Kitchen," in which she played a minor character. That might not seem like much, but Law & Order is a popular television production with a large viewership, and an appearance on it is almost a rite of passage for many up-and-coming actors. Following that role, she played CRM soldier and helicopter pilot Isabelle on two episodes of Fear The Walking Dead season 5 in 2019. That short role garnered Lemmon a Saturn Award nomination for Best Guest Starring Performance in a TV Show.  For such a limited role, touching fan's hearts deeply enough to be nominated for the award was a huge feat, but she ultimately lost out to Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan for his role on The Walking Dead.

In the same year as her Fear The Walking Dead performance, Lemmon showed up in an episode of the Emmy-winning HBO drama Succession, connecting herself once again to an award-winning production. Then, we arrive at Helstrom, on which Lemmon gets to tackle her first major role on a Marvel TV series. It's a role that should showcase the actor's talent under more long-term conditions, meaning we'll all have the chance to become much more familiar with her soon.
