Star Wars: Rogue One Toys Confirm Detail About Key Character
It's getting to the point that action figures need to come with spoiler alerts.
The Hollywood Reporter has a first look at Hasbro's upcoming figure pack for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and one of the toys confirms a fan theory about a main character.
It appears that Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) has a robotic leg, not unlike the high-tech suit Darth Vader wears. THR notes that the previously revealed Funko toys (via Smuggler's Bounty) also depicted Gerrera with a mechanical leg, but details about the character are still shrouded in mystery.
Why is this a big deal? The Rebel freedom fighter has already appeared with both legs in tact in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and at one point, Gerrera and Anakin Skywalker (the Jedi who eventually becomes Vader) were allies. As Inverse points out, in the Star Wars mythology, missing limbs tend to be related to Vader. Remember Luke's missing hand?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Whitaker said Gerrera shares "similarities" with Vader, quickly adding, "I don't know if I should tell you that."
Take a look at the new toys here. While we likely won't find out more until the release of Rogue One on Dec. 16, maybe another new toy will offer more clues. Check out everything we know about the anthology flick and other Star Wars mysteries it might answer.
