Get Your First Look At Ryan Reynolds' Upcoming Netflix Movie

One of Hollywood's busiest actors has shared a pair of photos to mark a production milestone on his latest project.

No, not the recently announced Deadpool 3. Or the long-gestating Clue remake. Or his upcoming art heist caper with Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, Red Notice. The other one. Try to keep track.

"Finished our first week on The Adam Project," Ryan Reynolds wrote on Twitter in the post that included the photos. "In addition to taking these two photos, @netflix will be happy to know we also shot some of the film."

In The Adam Project, Reynolds plays a future time traveler who lands back in his own past and meets a thirteen-year-old version of himself, played by newcomer Walker Scobell. The first photos show the two of them hiking through a forest. The Hollywood Reporter says the pair have to team up to find their late father, a brilliant physicist played by Mark Ruffalo, whose work threatens the future when it falls into the hands of a villain, played by Catherine Keener. Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Garner, and Alex Mallari Jr. are also set to appear, rounding out a pretty all-star cast.

The Adam Project is a behind-the-scenes reunion for Reynolds

It doesn't look like it was an easy trip for the older version, judging by the bloodstain on Reynolds' shirt in the behind-the-scenes photo he shared of himself and director Shawn Levy. "Happy to be back in the sturdy arms of my friend, life coach and director, @ShawnLevyDirect," Reynolds wrote in the tweet.

Levy and Reynolds recently finished work on Free Guy, the open-world video game comedy where Reynolds' NPC, "Guy," gains awareness and sets out to save his digital city. That movie was recently pushed back out of 2020. As Reynolds mentioned, the pair are making The Adam Project for Netflix, which presumably means that distribution won't be affected by COVID-19, though in 2020, who can say anymore?

Levy has a long list of studio comedies on his résumé. He directed three movies in the Night at the Museum series, the Steve Carell and Tina Fey comedy Date Night, the family funeral dramedy This Is Where I Leave You, and –– don't tell Reynolds –– the Hugh Jackman robot-boxing movie Real Steel. He also has a strong relationship with Netflix, serving as an executive producer on and directing eight episodes of the streaming service's hit show Stranger Things.

In addition to the upcoming Red Notice, Reynolds recently starred for Netflix in the Michael Bay action movie 6 Underground. The Adam Project does not yet have a release date.
