Get A New Look Into The Walking Dead Season 10 Bonus Episodes
With 2020 now in the books, we can all look back on it as one of the strangest and most unpleasant years in human history. This rings especially true when it comes to movies and television, as the COVID-19 pandemic flipped these industries on their heads, causing countless projects to suffer the consequences. In the case of AMC's long-running hit series, The Walking Dead, this past year actually proved somewhat eventful in ways both good and bad. Not only is the flagship show's eleventh season on track to take it out on a high note in 2022, but before that fans can expect some "bonus" season 10 content that wasn't in the original plan to come their way, as well.
Thanks to the pandemic, TWD's tenth season went incomplete for months on end. March 2020 saw the shutdown of the show's production, leaving the finale, "A Certain Doom," in limbo until October of that same year. While viewers were relieved to have this cliffhanger reach its resolution, the zombie drama's creative team had one more surprise up their collective sleeve: They announced at (virtual) San Diego Comic-Con 2020 that they had another six bonus episodes in store for season 10 a.k.a. the season that just won't quit.
With the inaugural bonus episode's February 28, 2021 premiere creeping closer, AMC has graced the masses with a sneak peek at the incoming installments.
The first look at The Walking Dead's season 10 bonus episode is very revealing
Minor spoilers for The Walking Dead season 10 finale, "A Certain Doom," ahead
On January 12, 2021, the official Walking Dead Twitter page shared a handful of stills from season 10's additional episodes (via FOX TV U.K.). The first tweet shows what look like two armored Commonwealth soldiers carrying off Paola Lázaro's Princess – a likely follow-up to her, Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Ezekiel (Khary Payton), and Yumiko's (Eleanor Matsuura) capture in "A Certain Doom."
The next one is a simple shot of Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) staring each other down as they continue to work out their complicated friendship post-Whisperers (and to presumably plan making a break for their spinoff). The image after that (featured above) shows Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) encountering the newly returned Maggie (Lauren Cohan). The latter is also seen wielding a bow Hunger Games style in the following Tweet.
In perhaps the most intriguing picture of the bunch, Negan smiles and lovingly holds his now-deceased wife, Lucille (Hilarie Burton), during a candlelit dinner. This is likely a flashback from the episode "Here's Negan" that will flesh out the character's largely unexplored origins.
Seven weeks stand between the Walking Dead's faithful viewers and the return of fresh episodes to televisions across the globe. If nothing else, these screenshots will make the long wait a bit easier, bolstering fan excitement — and, of course, their online speculation — tenfold.
