Chris Hemsworth Shares The Best Thor 4 News Yet

There's always a ton of excitement when a new film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is on the horizon. Even though it's still a couple of years out, the hype has never been higher for Thor: Love and Thunder, which will see Taika Waititi return in the director's chair after helming the critically acclaimed Thor: Ragnarok

While Natalie Portman's Jane Foster was conspicuously absent from that installment, she'll return for Love and Thunder, and this time around she's not just going to be a love interest. The actress has confirmed the film takes cues from the Mighty Thor storyline in the comics in which Jane actually wields Mjolnir. As if Portman's return wasn't enough, the fourth Thor installment also brings on Christian Bale as the villainous Gorr the God Butcher

The good news just keeps on coming for the fantastical Marvel series. If you follow Thor star Chris Hemsworth on Instagram, then you already know things are progressing as expected on the fourth installment thanks to one of his most recent posts.

Chris Hemsworth declares filming on Thor 4 has begun with a bunch of cool photos

On January 26, 2021, Chris Hemsworth posted a series of photos of him, along with director Taika Waititi, with members of the Gadigal, Bidiagal, and Maori Nations during a Welcome to Country ceremony. Hemsworth captioned the post, "A beautiful start to our shoot today." This is in line with previous reports that cameras would start rolling on the future Marvel flick in January of 2021 (via Movie Web). It's unclear who else in the cast, which reportedly includes Chris Pratt as Star-Lord and yet another Guardians of the Galaxy character, Karen Gillan's Nebula, but regardless Thor: Love and Thunder is officially a go.

Hemsworth's post goes on to express support for First Nations People of Australia, where filming is taking place, by exclaiming, "Many see January 26th as a date signifying the beginning of dispossession, disease epidemics, frontier violence, destruction of culture, exploitation, abuse, separation of families and subjection to policies of extreme social control. Let's begin the healing and stand together in unity and support with our First Nations people with solidarity and compassion."

As is the case with most blockbusters as of late, Thor 4 has gone through a bit of reshuffling. While it was originally supposed to come out in February of 2022, it's now set for a May 6, 2022 release date (via IMDb). Stay tuned for more updates about Thor: Love and Thunder as they become available.
