Owen Wilson Opens Up About His Mysterious Role In Disney+'s Loki

A lot of questions first arose when it was announced that a series centered on Loki (Tom Hiddleston) from the Marvel Cinematic Universe was going to Disney+ — namely how the villain-turned-hero could possibly get his own show when he met his doom quite literally at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Fortunately, all was revealed with the Loki trailer, which shows how the version of the trickster god, starring in the Disney+ original, is the one who got his hands on the Tesseract from Avengers: Endgame

However, this Loki doesn't maintain his freedom for long. The trailer soon shows him in the custody of a strange organization as he's being escorted to what seems like a trial by the mysterious Mobius M. Mobius, played by Owen Wilson. Considering Mobius works for the Time Variance Authority, it's safe to say this character and his superiors have some questions for Loki, who's done his fair share of messing with the timeline.

As we've seen so far from Marvel's first Disney+ series, WandaVision, the studio isn't afraid to get weird with their properties, so there are likely going to be more than a few surprises when the show finally comes out. For now, we're still in the dark, which makes Wilson's recent interview on SiriusXM's 'The Jess Cagle Show' intriguing. He doesn't give away much, but he does shine a lot into the kind of role Mobius will play on Loki

Owen Wilson mentions how Mobius almost interviews Loki at one point in the series

Mobius, not to be confused with Morbius the Living Vampire soon to be played by Jared Leto, is a bit of an obscure character from Marvel Comics. He was first introduced back in 1991 and has prosecuted various characters over the years for messing with timelines, such as the Fantastic Four and She-Hulk. Now, he's throwing the book at Loki, and according to Owen Wilson, Tom Hiddleston helped walk him through the ins and outs of his character.

While promoting his newest film, Bliss, with SiriusXM's Jess Cagle, Wilson is asked about his upcoming role in the superhero project, revealing that he didn't prepare by reading the comics. Instead, he just talked to Tom Hiddleston a lot about what had happened in the MCU thus far. He goes on to say, "[Tom Hiddleston], for a couple days, walked me through everything and the whole lore, and [showed] me clips from the other movies and how it all fed into this story." It sounds that rather than getting bogged into the Marvel Comics history, Wilson instead received a crash course on the MCU and how Loki exists in all of it — who he likely spends a lot of time with in the show.

He then offers a glimpse into what his relationship with Loki will be like, stating, "Even in the way sometimes that he would describe his character, it was useful for me because my character Mobius in Loki is kind of interviewing him at some point." The interview aspect is interesting because as we see in the trailer, Loki appears to go on various adventures. If Loki's truly getting put on trial for his time crimes, then perhaps he can get out of it by completing various tasks on behalf of the TVA. Describing it as an "interview" suggests Mobius knows everything there is to know about Loki and could potentially even show him scenes from timelines he wasn't a part of, such as the Avengers saving the universe from Thanos.

Mobius could very well be the person pulling all the strings. We'll just have to wait and see what kind of misadventures the trickster finds himself in when Loki debuts on Disney+ in May of 2021.
