Rumor Report: Is This DC Character Making The 'Mind-Blowing Cameo' In The Snyder Cut?
Is Martian Manhunter going to be the hero making a major cameo in the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League?
As excitement increases for the release of the extended edition of Zack Snyder's 2017 film, so have rumors and speculation about what exactly fans will be seeing in the movie. The reports and images released have included a major change in the ending, Jared Leto rocking a Christ pose as the Joker, and multiple villains getting added to the cast.
But one sentence in a Vanity Fair article on the movie's history stated outright that another DC superhero would now make a cameo appearance for the new ending. And according to io9's anonymous source on the production, the hero is none other than shapeshifter alien J'onn J'onzz himself, the Martian Manhunter.
Here's the rundown on why HBO Max subscribers and hardcore DC fans could possibly be seeing the character very soon.
How Martian Manhunter Could Appear In Justice League
Actor Harry Lennix, who plays Secretary of Defense Calvin Swanwick in the DCEU films, has previously confirmed in an interview with Collider that he shot scenes as Martian Manhunter in the Justice League extended edition. Snyder had intended for Swanwick to be revealed as the alien hero eventually, so this likely confirms his true identity for audiences.
Now, to be clear, Martian Manhunter's cameo in the Snyder cut is very much a rumor from an unknown source, though they're supposedly knowledgeable about the movie. It can be harder to trust a story like this when the origin could be anybody at all just making things up. We also don't know if Lennix's scenes will be left on the cutting room floor, as is common practice in the editing room when certain sequences don't fit into the movie.
While nothing about the cameo has been directly confirmed by the studios or anyone else, it sounds like Lennix as Manhunter could be in the movie in one form or another, whether near the end or elsewhere in the film. Comic book fans and HBO Max subscribers can look forward to finding out for sure when Zach Snyder's Justice League premieres on March 18.
