Tom Holland Confirms Someone Very Special Will Be In Spider-Man 3
Tom Holland has never been very good at keeping secrets. His inability to keep Marvel spoilers under wraps while doing press to promote the popular superhero films has become somewhat of a running joke at this point. It got so bad that eventually Marvel started pairing him in interviews with Benedict Cumberbatch, an actor who possessed an uncanny ability to censor Holland before he could reveal anything too monumental.
Fans obviously love this about the Spider-Man actor, and his Marvel co-stars have made plenty of jokes about it, but Marvel boss Kevin Feige probably holds his breath every time Holland does an interview, even for non-Marvel projects. Luckily the actor, who has been doing a ton of press recently for his upcoming film Cherry, in which he plays an Army veteran suffering from addiction and PTSD, has been pretty good about policing himself so far. During an appearance on The Tonight Show, Holland even told host Jimmy Fallon that he has "progressed" and is now a "trustworthy member of the Avengers." However, he did reveal one tiny spoiler from the upcoming Spider-Man movie, which is currently filming.
Harry Holland, Tom's younger brother, has a cameo in the movie
While most Marvel fans are probably waiting on pins and needles for Holland to spill the beans on a Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield cameo in the film, which many believe will be introducing the multiverse to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Holland again denied rumors that one or both of his Spider-Man predecessors would be in the movie. But to make up for being the bearer of bad news, he revealed someone very close to him does appear: his little brother Harry.
"[Harry] has a small cameo in Cherry, and he plays a character called the Shaky Kid and he's a drug dealer. So we kind of had this idea that in every film I would be in that Harry would reprise his role as the Shaky Kid," Holland explained to Fallon. "So he is back again in his own sort of weird MCU cinematic universe cameo as the ecstasy-dealing Shaky Kid."
Holland, who first hinted at Harry's involvement earlier this month when he posted a photo of the two of them while he was in his Spidey suit, then went on to explain the scene in which Harry appears. Peter strings Harry's character upside down using his webs, and he swings back and forth while Peter engages in an argument with someone else. Holland joked about shooting the scene in long takes to mess with his brother, but in the end he said he was really grateful to have been able to share the experience with him.
"It's a funny scene," he said, "and it was really fun for me to get to share that moment with him."
Spider-Man 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on December 17.
