Fans Think This Instagram Post Answered The Big Cliffhanger From Yellowstone Season 3

Season 3 of Yellowstone ended with a bang. And a drive-by. And a raid. Almost every member of the Dutton clan was attacked. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) was shot on the side of the road, a bomb exploded inside the office of Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), and armed goons stormed the office of Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes). In the season's final moments, it wasn't clear who would make it to season 4 or who orchestrated the hits.

Yellowstone follows John Dutton's struggle to maintain his Montana ranch, which borders both Native American land and the titular National Park. It's a soapy look at land-use politics, as well as reservation life, substance abuse, family drama, and vulture capitalism. With all that on the table, there's no shortage of tension or elevated stakes.

The Duttons have made enough enemies to keep fans guessing as to who could have tried to take the whole family out. Some fans have even speculated that a pair of unlikely villains from season 2 might resurface, though a recent Instagram post from the series' verified account shifts suspicion much closer to home.

Is Yellowstone trolling fans, or did Jamie just jump to the top of the suspect pool?

On February 26, 2021, the official Instagram for Yellowstone posted a picture of Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) under dark storm clouds. "Even the clouds around Jamie are ominous," the picture was captioned. Many fans reacted with certainty that the post was hinting that Jamie attacked his family. During the finale, ranch hand Rip (Cole Hauser) called Jamie because he couldn't get a hold of any other Duttons. Jamie basically told Rip to never call him again, which is just the kind of thing someone who tried to explode his sister and assassinate his father and brother might say.

Earlier in the season, Jamie found out that he's actually adopted into the Dutton family. He didn't take the news well, but did his confused feelings go deep enough that he actually tried to kill his other family members? Bentley is good at playing suspicious characters. In American Horror Story: Hotel, he played a detective hot on the trail of a serial killer. Only, it turned out he was the serial killer all along. Apparently, he's played so many loathsome characters that he actually gets spontaneously harassed on the street.

"I feel bad for Wes Bentley if people recognize him in public and just start yelling at him," one fan commented. "I wonder if this happens cause he plays this character so well that people actually hate Jamie. Lol. Good job Wes."

Punchable face or not, Wes will most certainly be back in season 4. Hopefully we'll all find out then whether he had a hand in that violent season 3 finale, or whether this ominous photo was just intended to throw us off another bad actor's scent.
