How You Can Watch Every Season Of The Office For Free Right Now
It's safe to say that the NBC series The Office, based on the BBC series of the same name, is one of the most popular comedy series in the world. The mockumentary-style show ran for nine seasons from 2005 to 2013, kickstarting the careers of many talented and popular actors, like Steve Carrell, John Krasinski, Mindy Kaling, and Ellie Kemper. Carrell stars in The Office as Michael Scott, the dimwitted regional manager of the paper and office supply sales company Dunder Mifflin, and the show is centered around the everyday work life of Scott and the other employees. Over the course of its long run, The Office won five Emmys and one Golden Globe.
Although The Office was very popular while it aired on television, its fanbase has only grown in the years after — largely thanks to streaming. The series was originally broadcast on NBC, but Netflix quickly picked up streaming rights for all the seasons. In a 2018 interview with Vulture, NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt spoke about The Office's success on Netflix, saying, "I believe that Netflix has helped make The Office extraordinarily popular, and more popular than it was when it was on the network. [...] Younger people weren't watching it on this network and they're watching it in droves on Netflix." Unfortunately for the streaming platform, NBC reacquired the rights to The Office at the end of 2020, and the series left Netflix for the channel's new streaming service, Peacock.
In March 2021, NBC has a gift for The Office fans, offering people a way to watch every season of the show for free right now.
All episodes of The Office are available to stream for free on Peacock for one week
NBC has announced that all seasons of The Office will be available to stream for free on Peacock starting March 18, 2021, for one week only, though only for U.S. viewers. At the beginning of 2021, The Office moved to Peacock, but normally only the first two seasons are free to watch. The other seven seasons are blocked by a paywall, only for users with either Peacock Premium, which costs $4.99 per month with ads, or Peacock Premium Plus, $9.99 per month without ads.
According to the announcement on Variety, The Office fans will also have access to "new 'Superfan Episodes' that include never-before-seen footage and deleted scenes in extended cuts of the original series, beginning with Season 3." There are also behind-the-scenes videos, curated episode playlists, and more, and NBC is encouraging fans to talk about and show your appreciation for The Office on social media for "The Dundies 2021 Contest," for which you could win various prizes.
NBC's announcement that all The Office seasons are available to stream for free right now is great news for fans of the show who can't or don't want to purchase a Peacock subscription, although this decision is likely a move to encourage more people to join the streaming service. For those who still won't want to join Peacock, it might be difficult to watch all the 200-plus episodes in just one week, a task that would take around 99 hours, or 4 days and 3 hours, according to Binge Clock. Of course, The Office superfans are up for the challenge.
