Here's How You Can Watch Every Season Of Supernatural
With 327 episodes over the course of 15 seasons, Supernatural would be the longest-running genre TV show of all time if not for British mainstays like Doctor Who and the horror soap opera Dark Shadows. But so far as American television series go, there are few in any genre that generated as many episodes as Supernatural has.
And what's so amazing about Supernatural is that, through it all, its core premise has largely remained the same — two brothers, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), hunt monsters across the American landscape in their Chevy Impala while classic rock tunes play. Sure, the series expanded its cast and added long-serving characters over the years like stand-in father figure Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver) and angel of the Lord Castiel (Misha Collins). And even though the enemies also evolved from monsters of the week to God, the series remained about the bond between Sam and Dean.
Now that the Winchesters have defeated the Yellow Eyed Demon, Lilith, Leviathans, God's sister Amara (Emily Swallow), Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino), Crowley (Mark Sheppard), and about a million other creatures, their story is done. Their hunter spurs are hung up in Heaven above, and now you are finally free to binge the sum entirety of the show however quickly you may wish! Just one question — what's the easiest way to watch Supernatural if you wanted to start right now?
Netflix is where all the cool hunters do their family business
The good news is that, for the moment at least (and with one caveat that we'll touch on in a bit), the entirety of Supernatural is available to watch on Netflix. The only qualifier, as is the way with most streaming services, is that you're only getting the bare-bones experience of the show. For the commentary tracks, blooper reels, deleted scenes, and the like, the only way to get all of that is by purchasing the full series on physical media. If you're a completionist, Supernatural: The Complete Series will release on Blu-ray May 25, 2021, which includes a number of bonus features and a 68-page collectible book.
If you are a die-hard Supernatural fan, you are likely wondering about the one thing that isn't on Netflix — the Supernatural anime series. Yes, there was a single-season animated version of Supernatural that retreads a lot of the first live-action season. If you want to watch that, it is available to watch for free through The CW's Seed streaming platform.
Supernatural has an overall 93 percent Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes with individual seasons ranging in grading from 67 percent all the way up to 100 percent for multiple seasons. If you're looking for a starting place, Supernatural actually has a solid first season, and the show actually does a great job of wrapping up almost all of its main story arcs by the close of season 5. Of course, if you want to see Castiel turn good (and then evil and then good again), all of Sam and Dean's many demises, Sam lose his soul, Dean turn into a demon, and meet Cain, Adam and Eve, or any of a myriad of biblical characters, all that happens in seasons 6 through15.
Supernatural is streaming on Netflix now.
