Zack Snyder Confirms New Army Of The Dead Trailer Drop
Now that Warner Bros. and the DC Extended Universe have relented after years of persistent nudging from fans and Zack Snyder's new four-hour version of Justice League is available to stream on HBO Max (both in color and in black and white), it's time to look forward to the next projects the director is working on. And we don't even have very far to look, because beginning May 21, Army of the Dead – Snyder's first zombie film since his and James Gunn's famous Dawn of the Dead remake – will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
But for everyone else, there are still many posters, teasers, and trailers left to enjoy and analyze as we look forward to May and prepare for the film's official debut. In fact, we recently found out from Snyder himself that there is a brand new full trailer coming on April 13, 2021.
A zombie picture is worth a thousand undead groans
Zack Snyder recently began sharing posters on Twitter for Army of the Dead, which were done up to look like the cover of a comic book. On April 12, 2021, he released the latest poster, which revealed when the next trailer would hit. "They are not what you think they are. Trailer tomorrow," Snyder tweeted.
The above statement is very interesting because it is likely that Snyder is referring to the zombies in Army of the Dead. Zombies can represent all sorts of things in a narrative — they can be a metaphor for social unrest, capitalism run amuck, or disease, but more often than not, they are a danger that exposes the cruelty of regular, living human beings. However, since we don't know much about Army of the Dead so far, it's possible that the zombies in Snyder's movie may represent something else entirely.
The first poster was of a skeletal hand covered in rings holding a King of Hearts card. The latest poster is of a zombie's hand holding up a zombie head on a pike. And there are a couple of interesting things about this image — most notably that the zombie's head is wearing a metal mask, suggesting that perhaps these creatures are at least intelligent enough to defend themselves. The mask is adorned with junk such as bottlecaps and keychains and the wrist of the hand holding the pike seems to have a symbol on it.
Does this mean that the zombies might be the good guys and the humans are the villains? We'll find out more when the Army of the Dead trailer drops on April 13.
