Who Is The Actor In The Pizza Hut 'Dots' Commercial?
Who doesn't like pizza and Pac-Man? Pizza Hut took these two classics and put them together in their "Dots" commercial for the 2021 Super Bowl. This ad takes the viewer into a basement, made up to look like a retro Pizza Hut restaurant, with a well-known actor eating his pizza and playing some Pac-Man. He's kept this tradition alive since 1982. It's here where the actor starts to contemplate Pac-Man's motivations, a character who constantly eats the same thing. This becomes a natural transition to promote the Pizza Hut Tastemaker, a large three-topping pizza that can be customized any way you want.
It seems like a simple commercial, but the actor truly brings this one to a different level. His larger-than-life persona amplifies the ability to get whatever you want on your pizza. As he starts to tear apart the slices (while still playing Pac-Man), he begins to yell at both his food and the video game out of excitement.
So who is the actor in the Pizza Hut "Dots" commercial?
Craig Robinson needs variety
As soon as you started viewing the commercial, you probably recognized this actor from This is the End, Hot Tub Time Machine, or The Office. The actor who has apparently been obsessed with Pac-Man for almost four decades is none other than Craig Robinson. This actor/comedian uses his lovable energy to show viewers how many options we have for our pizzas, unlike poor Pac-Man, who has to eat the same dots every day. On the other hand, Robinson gets to enjoy all the variety he can have, no matter what combination of meats and veggies he can create.
The commercial gets even better toward the end, when Robinson feels bold enough to exclaim, "I think I'm about to out-pizza the hut!" Just as he finishes the sentence, though, he realizes that no one can possibly pull that off. This is a new and refreshing way for Pizza Hut to remind the world of its tagline. Overall, Pizza Hut captured the viewers' eyes and stomach yet again by utilizing an actor who is universally loved throughout TV and film.
