Sweet Home Season 2 - What We Know So Far
Thanks to the sheer volume of content that Netflix releases, it can be difficult for any individual show to stand out. Sometimes, though, a show is special enough to push through the noise. For many subscribers, "Sweet Home" was one show that managed to prove its value. Over the course of its first season, the Korean horror series earned plenty of plaudits for the visceral scares it mixed with the human story at its center.
The show follows a severely depressed teenager who's forced to battle a variety of humans who have transformed into monsters. Although the premise of the story resembles a more conventional zombie drama, "Sweet Home" distinguished itself partially through the different kinds of creatures that its main characters are forced to contend with.
Now that the first season has hit, many fans are wondering when a second might be released, and what the plot and the cast of the new season might be.
What's the release date for season 2 of Sweet Home?
The first season of Sweet Home only hit Netflix in December of 2020, so fans may have to wait a while before they get any more of the show. The show has yet to be officially renewed for a second season, but given the limited amount of time the show has been out, it's still possible for a second season to happen.
As has been the case with many shows over the past year, the coronavirus pandemic has made shooting more difficult than it would have been otherwise. If "Sweet Home" does return, it may be after a delay. The show's popularity will ultimately prove to be crucial in whether the show receives a renewal for a second season. Even though it debuted months ago, there's still plenty of opportunity for it to find new fans on the platform that ultimately boost its viewership numbers and help to ensure that it gets renewed.
Who's in the cast of season 2 of Sweet Home?
If a Season 2 of "Sweet Home" happens, the show's cast will likely remain the same from the first season. Song Kang will continue to star as Cha Hyun-soo, the teenager at the show's center, and he'll be joined by Lee Jin-wook, Lee Si-young, Kim Nam-hee, and Lee Do-hyun in the show's supporting cast.
The show's first season had a sprawling cast that featured not just Cha Hyun-soo, but also a variety of other characters who live in the same apartment building. Because of the show's relatively contained setting, audiences are able to meet a group of characters who might not ordinarily come together. It's the same reason movies like "Train to Busan" work so well. The outbreak happens to a group of strangers who are forced to find common cause with one another or be totally destroyed by the dangers outside their door.
What's the plot of Season 2 of Sweet Home?
The lack of an official renewal for "Sweet Home" means that there's no official plot description for the show's second season. Given where the first season leaves off, though, it seems likely that the show would pick up soon after the events of the first season.
In the final moments of the Season 1 finale, Chan Hyon-soo wakes up to discover that he's in an armored vehicle being driven by Pyeon Sang-wook, who is really Ui-myeong and has just adopted Sang-wook's form. Given the cliffhanger that the show ends on, it's natural for fans to want to know how the story evolves next.
Netflix has a huge number of shows on its platform designed to cater to a wide array of different audiences. Korean horror may not be every subscribers' cup of tea, but fans of "Sweet Home" are hoping that there enough fans of the show to guarantee it a second season.
