The Biggest Change In Criminal Minds Over The Years
Since 2005, CBS's "Criminal Minds" has been one of the most beloved crime dramas in TV history. With a total of 15 seasons and a supposed 16th season of "Criminal Minds" on the way, it seems like the show could go on forever. The show even has its own spin-off shows, called "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior" and "Criminal Minds: Without Borders," which prove that the opportunities are nearly endless. But with longevity comes change, and it's something the "Criminal Minds" cast and crew have done well from Season 1 to Season 15.
Even though the main cast has generally stayed the same, they members have collectively had their fair share of promotions, losses, added team members, and immense character development. It's challenging to choose just one, but if you've been a fan of the crime drama series since Season 1, you'll agree that this is one of the biggest changes on "Criminal Minds" over the years.
Penelope Garcia's role on the team is one of Criminal minds' biggest changes
Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) is known on "Criminal Minds" as the BAU's tech whiz, and for being a key team member in every season so far. She's also guest-starred in the "Criminal Minds" spin-off shows, but as time goes on, her role shifts as the series progresses. How? By proving herself to the rest of the team that she's more than just a pretty face behind a computer.
In Season 10, Penelope assists Agent Matt Simmons (Daniel Henney) in tracking down hacker, stalker and serial killer Mr. Scratch, also known as Peter Lewis (Bodhi Elfman). This act proves that she's also useful in the field. In Season 9, she stays by Dr. Spencer Reid's (Matthew Gray Gubler) side while he's recovering in the hospital. Because of her loyalty and selflessness, she ultimately saves Reid from being assassinated and shoots his killer dead. These moments only scratch the surface of Garcia's growth throughout the series, and proves to her team and viewers she's an essential team member.
