My Adventures With Superman HBO Max - What We Know So Far
It looks like Jack Quaid has now got his hands in another superhero franchise, voicing Superman in the upcoming "My Adventures with Superman" animated series for HBO Max and Cartoon Network (via Deadline). Definitely a different feel than the hardcore rated R story of "The Boys," the new Superman animated show will focus on a twenty-something Clark Kent at the start of his superhero career, as he falls in love with the talented journalist Lois Lane. At their side is also their friend Jimmy Olsen, a rising photographer in Metropolis.
With an official two-season order, "My Adventures with Superman" will be joining the ranks of critically acclaimed DC animated series like "Harley Quinn," "Young Justice," and "Batman: The Animated Series," all of which are currently available to watch on HBO Max. The upcoming Superman series was just announced so there's not too much information out yet, but here's everything we know about "My Adventures with Superman" so far.
What is the release date of My Adventures with Superman?
As the announcement of the series getting a two-season order was just released, it's hard to guess when "My Adventures with Superman" Season 1 will premiere. The timeline for the recent "Harley Quinn" animated series is a good blueprint for what fans should expect with the new show. While "Harley Quinn" was announced in late 2017, Kaley Cuoco's casting as the title character was only released to the public in October of 2018, along with the first look at the series (Deadline).
While "My Adventures with Superman" hasn't released any footage yet, the still image, along with the casting announcements for both Kent and Lane, mean that the series is likely already in production or starting soon. Considering that Season 1 of "Harley Quinn" premiered on November 29, 2019, it's reasonable to assume that we won't see the first episodes of "My Adventures with Superman" for another year if we're lucky, possibly longer. Keep your calendars open for late 2022 or early 2023, because that's the best time to expect the upcoming Superman series to premiere.
Who is in the cast of My Adventures with Superman?
As of right now, there are only two casting announcements for the upcoming series, "My Adventures with Superman." Quaid, who is most known for playing Hughie Campbell in Amazon's hit series "The Boys," based on the comics series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, will voice the one and only Superman. Quaid only started doing voice work recently, playing Richie Rich in the animated series "Harvey Girls Forever!", Brad Boimler in "Star Trek: Lower Decks," and a few other roles.
Alongside Kent is his love, Lane, to be voiced by Alice Lee. The actress currently plays Emily in "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist," and has previously been in comedies like "Sierra Burgess Is a Loser" and "Brittany Runs a Marathon." This will be her first voice job. There have been no other casting announcements yet, whether for Olsen or any other character, but fans should expect to hear more in the coming months.
What will My Adventures with Superman be about?
The new series "My Adventures with Superman" will focus on Kent, Lane, and Olsen as they live out their twenties in Metropolis, adjusting to being adults and figuring out who they want to be.
According to the official synopsis, the series will "follow Clark as he builds his secret Superman identity and embraces his role as the hero of Metropolis – and perhaps the world. Lois, now growing into a star investigative journalist, takes aspiring photographer Jimmy Olsen under her wing. All the while, Clark and Lois are falling in love, sharing adventures, taking down bad guys, stumbling over secrets, and discovering what it means to be Superman and Lois Lane." The president of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios., Sam Register, highlighted how "this is the first animated Superman series in many years," so they wanted to tell their "Superman story through the trio of Clark, Lois and Jimmy" (via Variety).
With the information released so far, it looks like "My Adventures with Superman" will be a family-friendly adventure comedy showcasing the friendship between these three characters as they find their place in Metropolis, and the world.
