Who Killed Sara Season 3 - What We Know So Far
Fans have been loving the twists and turns in Latin murder mystery "Who Killed Sara?" or "¿Quién mató a Sara?," which debuted its first season on March 24. The thriller quickly became Netflix's most popular non-English title ever (via Deadline), and — in an unusual turn of events — dropped a second season just a few months after the first on May 19. Now that you've have had a chance to binge the 18 available episodes, though, it's natural that you're still reeling from the series' unexpected revelations about the murder and surrounding events. Or heck, all the jaw-dropping revelations that point to the fact that everyone could've murdered Sara — or that no one did, for that matter.
And, given all the red herrings and loose threads that need to be tied up, you might be wondering exactly when you might see more. After all, audiences still don't know who killed the young woman, in the crime that originally landed main character Alex (Manolo Cardona) in jail for so many years. Things seem to be getting more convoluted instead of less so, which only a third season can address. Here's what we know about what's coming for "Who Killed Sara?"
What is the release date of Who Killed Sara Season 3?
If you made it to the end of the second season, there was good news awaiting you at the end of the credits of the eighth and last episode: "It's Official: Another Season Is Coming," the Netflix screen said.
But that's all fans know so far. There's been no announcement by Netflix as to how many episodes it will have (eight like Season 2? Or 10 like Season 1?) and whether or not it's going to solve any of the problems put forth in the series so far.
Given the show's less-than-predictable trajectory, there's also the matter of when the season will come out. The streaming giant didn't make fans wait too long between Season 1 and 2, as it reportedly shot them both consecutively under COVID-19 protocols. However, it's unclear how long fans will have to wait for the third season. The fact that Netflix clearly greenlit it before the second season aired is good news, but there's been no news that the series has been in production, which may indicate it'll be a bit longer between Season 2 and Season 3. You can probably expect it to come later in 2021 or in 2022 sometime.
Who is in the cast of Who Killed Sara Season 3?
Given the hanging plot threads, you can expect the cast from previous seasons to return for Season 3. They, too, want to know who killed Sara!
The show's Season 2 stars Colombian actor Cardona as Alex Guzmán, the main character who's trying to find out who killed Sara (or is he?). Pretty much everyone else seems to be a suspect in her murder, from her ex-boyfriend Rodolfo Lazcano (Alejandro Nones), who definitely seemed like a good suspect early on, to controlling patriarch César Lazcano (Ginés García Millán). The cast also includes matriarch Mariana Lazcano (Claudia Ramírez), disgraced Lazcano son José María "Chema" (Eugenio Siller), Alex's love interest and youngest Lazcano daughter Elisa Lazcano (Carolina Miranda), and sisters Marifer (Litzy) and Clara (Fátima Molina). Nicandro is played by Matías Novoa.
Oh, and of course there's Sara herself, played by Ximena Lamadrid. It's unclear if Marifer and Clara will be back, as they've (possibly) joined Sara in death (along with a few others). César has been declared dead, but he faked it. It's also unclear if new characters will be added to the mix in Season 3, but we're thinking there's already a pretty big list of possible murderers already.
What is the plot of Who Killed Sara, Season 3?
It's pretty clear from the title — and the lack of a satisfactory conclusion of any kind in the previous season — that Season 3 is going to focus on the same thing as the first two: finding out who was responsible for killing Sara. Unless she's alive, of course. Who even knows, at this point.
At the end of Season 2, fans were shocked when Marifer confessed to the murder by cutting Sara's parasail straps, but viewers later learn her act didn't actually result in the titular death even though she appears responsible for other killings. Of course, we don't know if Marifer survived the fire, anyway. By the end, it looked like Nicandro was going to be implicated instead, through a cryptic comment he made to Sara's psychiatrist on the phone. In other words, aargh.
Chema has confessed to murders he isn't guilty of, which doesn't bode well for his future. And Alex saved Elisa in the final episode, after her suicidal action in torching her family's casino. Elisa's been in some dangerous situations in previous episodes, so we're pulling for happier times for this couple when Season 3 finally debuts.
