Where Is Teretha Hollis-Neely From My 600-Lb Life Now?
When Teretha Hollis-Neely first appeared on "My 600-lb Life," she weighed nearly 800 pounds and was one of the heaviest women to appear on the show. The 47-year-old grandmother was dependent on her husband, as well as oxygen and insulin. Prior to traveling to Houston, Teretha had not left her bed in two years.
After losing over 200 pounds during her initial hospital stay with Dr. Nowzaradan, Teretha qualified for weight loss surgery. Post-surgery, she lost a total of 441 lbs, nearly cutting her starting weight in half.
Unfortunately, for her first follow-up appearance on Season 3 of "My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now?," Teretha admitted she had gained weight and was once again bedridden. She met with Dr. Now once again, who agreed to remove her lymphedema mass in order to help her keep walking. Following more resistance, Dr. Now admitted Teretha to a rehab facility so she can cope with her food addiction. After just one month at the facility, Teretha unexpectedly checked herself out and returned to Houston. She attempted rehab one more time and was once again making progress toward her goal of walking by the end of the episode.
Teretha Hollis-Neely remains optimistic
Teretha returned for the sixth season of "Where Are They Now?," four years after her first appearance and once again dependent on a wheelchair, fearing for the weight she had gained. She once again stalled her progress by missing several therapy appointments and refusing to adhere to her diet. By the end of her third appearance, Teretha was back on oxygen and had decided she was no longer interested in Dr. Now's weight loss program.
Like nearly everybody else in 2020, Teretha Hollis-Neely spent most of her time in quarantine. The former Dr. Now patient keeps her supporters updated via her Facebook page. In August 2020, Teretha and her husband Derrick celebrated their 27th anniversary, and she shared photos of their cake and their wedding online. Although Teretha has not revealed her current weight, she appears happier following her appearances on the reality show. Selfies show her with her makeup and hair done while beaming ear to ear — a far cry from the bedridden Theretha depicted in her first episode of "My 600-lb Life."
In November 2020, the Detroit resident posted three photos of herself, the last with a slightly slimmer face than the one taken during her first trip to visit Dr. Nowzaradan in 2016. Teretha continues to enjoy time with her husband, grandchildren, and the rest of her family. She also seems to remain optimistic and proud of her progress since her appearances on the TLC show.
