This Is Where The Bachelorette 2021 Was Filmed
While some wait for new episodes of shows like "Love is Blind," most reality TV fans have been gearing up for this summer's new season of "The Bachelorette." This time, the woman leading the show is Katie Thurston, who was originally a contestant on Matt James's season earlier this year. She made a major impression from the moment she stepped out of the limo, capturing that hearts of people everywhere with her unfiltered humor and frank conversation. Now the star of her own season, Katie is determined to be honest and genuine with the men and hopefully find some love through the process.
When the first episode premiered on June 7, 2021, all the attention was on Katie and the 30 men who arrived in front of her to fight for her heart. While men appeared in bowties and cat suits, there was one detail that left viewers questioning, and that was where the show is taking place this season. If fans paid any attention to Katie and the mens' surroundings in the premiere, they might've noticed that it looks nothing like the Agoura Hills mansion in California that many are familiar with as the backdrop of "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette." Likely a choice made to accommodate the rules of quarantine and filming during the pandemic, it's also an interesting change of scenery for the show.
Either way, one question remains. Where is Katie's season of "The Bachelorette" taking place?
The new mansion is a resort in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Thanks to Reality Steve, a trusted source of information about anything and everything "The Bachelorette," we now know that the currently airing Season 17 was filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at a resort called the Hyatt Regency Tamaya. According to the luxury hotel's official website, the resort is "nestled on 550 acres of the Native American Santa Ana Pueblo between the Sandia Mountains and the Rio Grande River." With three pools, a golf course, horse stables, and a lot more, there are plenty of great activities for Katie and her men to do on dates, and the New Mexico landscape is worthy competition for the beauty of California.
This is the third consecutive season not filmed at the traditional "Bachelor" mansion, which is the residence of an actual family when it's not being used by the series (ABC News). With travel and safety restrictions in place this past year or so, it's likely that the family was unable to vacate their house for ABC to film, leaving the franchise to find new locations for the past few seasons. For Claire Crawley and Tayshia Adams's season, this was the La Quinta Resort & Club near Palm Springs, while Matt James filmed his season at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania (Variety, House Beautiful).
Whether "The Bachelorette" takes place in California, New Mexico, or someplace else, it doesn't really matter. Fans will continue to tune in for this season, as fan-favorite Katie continues her journey to find love.
