Why BossLogic's Latest Poster Set Has Marvel Fans Freaking Out
Since "Avengers: Endgame," the MCU has been more cosmic than ever before. Sure, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is technically an alien, and we've had two "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies, but the two-part Avengers finale brought more of the team than ever before across both time and space. The heroes of the MCU seem to really be embracing the title "Cosmic Champions" — which is not-so-coincidentally the original title for Marvel's first-ever major crossover comic event: "Secret Wars."
People have speculated that, with the MCU already pulling elements from the 1992 Marvel Comics crossover event "The Infinity War," Kevin Feige and company might be considering going even further back to utilize elements from "Secret Wars" in their future MCU films. There's certainly proof that we may be seeing something like that in the future.
In the original "Secret Wars" comics, a cosmic being called The Beyonder brings all of Marvel's mightiest heroes and villains to do battle on Battleworld. We already know that SHIELD's counterpart SWORD is up in space, along with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). And we also know that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is currently in the employ of the Time Keepers, themselves cosmic-level entities who have dominion over all of time. Can The Beyonder be far behind?
Artist BossLogic recently got fans excited by crafting posters featuring some of your MCU favorites as they might appear in a "Secret Wars" cinematic event. Let's take a look at what the artist has come up with, and marvel (if you'll pardon the pun) at what characters we might see in the next phases of the MCU.
Behold: a Scarlet Witch, a black suit, and a Silver Surfer
BossLogic crafted nine "Secret Wars" posters in all, but there are a few in particular that we have to talk about. The first, of course, is Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). When last we left her at the close of "WandaVision," the newly christened Scarlet Witch was boning up on her chaos magic. In "Secret Wars," The Beyonder offers the victors on Battleworld whatever they want. It would be easy to imagine Wanda using this boon as a means to resurrect Vision (Paul Bettany) and her children for realsies.
The other poster, which is exciting Marvel imaginations, depicts Spider-Man (Tom Holland) in his black suit. If you've read the comics (or just seen the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies), you know that before Venom wears that suit, it belongs to Peter Parker. What you may not know is that the alien symbiote is introduced during the events of "Secret Wars." Is it possible that the MCU may give their version of Spider-Man a symbiote suit someday?
There are plenty of other interesting BossLogic posters to address, including one depicting Thor's hammer, another featuring Iron Man's suit, and yet another featuring Doctor Victor Von Doom. While all that is plenty cool, it's the images of Silver Surfer that are dominating fan discussion of the posters. In one image, he's alone, and in the other, he is with The Living Tribunal — another being not unlike The Beyonder and the Time Keepers in cosmic power and authority.
Again, the name of the game is "cosmic" and, if that's where the MCU is headed, it's entirely possible some or all of these characters may appear on the big screen in the next few years.
