Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 - What We Know So Far

If there is one thing that anime fans living outside of the genre's primary marketplaces, such as Japan, have come to understand, it's that patience is an essential part of the game. "Mob Psycho 100," which has spawned two well-received seasons, is an excellent example of this, as fans agonize over if and when a third chapter will ever arrive.

"Mob Psycho 100" is the anime adaptation of a very popular Japanese manga by the same name, written by the artist ONE, also well known for his other significant series, "One Punch Man." Like his other work, "Mob Psycho 100" tells the story of a young man, Shigeo Kageyama, or Mob, with incredible powers. However, Mob lacks the skills needed to control the vast forces at his disposal. As a result, he must constantly monitor his emotions to prevent them from reaching "100%" and causing a dangerous surge of energy.

Fans are eagerly awaiting a continuation of the first two seasons, although official communication from the studio that developed the earlier episodes has been scarce. Here is everything we know about the release date, cast, and plot of "Mob Psycho 100."

What is the release date of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3?

Without an official announcement that production has begun on Season 3 of "Mob Psycho 100," it can be challenging to pin down when fans might be able to expect the new season. However, we can look at the production history of "Mob Psycho 100" to at least get an idea of when the third chapter of the anime might be available.

Season 1 of "100 Mob Psycho" was first announced in late 2015, via Anime News Network, and the first episodes were released for Japanese audiences in July of 2016. The series then went on a hiatus while the first season was dubbed for English audiences. Those episodes were released over two years later, in October 2018.

Shortly before the dubbed Season 1 episodes were released, Season 2 was announced also announced, via IGN. Those episodes then began airing in Japan just months later, in January 2019. During the same month in which the Japanese broadcast finished, April 2019, the English dub of Season 2 began airing.

So what does all of this mean for Season 3? It appears that Bones can get work done quickly once it's committed to it, but "Mob Psycho 100" needs to be greenlit first. Without any confirmation that Season 3 is on the way, the best fans could hope for at this point is a 2022 arrival — but they should wait for an announcement before they get too excited.

Who is in the cast of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3?

As a result of the production of the English dubs being fairly close together, the producers didn't seem to have any issues getting the voice talent to return for the second season. If production on Season 3 commences in the near future, fans should have no reason to believe that the actors and actresses who played their favorite characters in the first two seasons wouldn't return for the final chapter.

If that is the case, then Mob will once again be voiced by Kyle McCarley, Chris Niosi will play Mob's charlatan mentor Reigan, and the pair's spirit companion, Dimple, will once again be read by Michael Sorich. Fans can also expect to hear Mob's younger brother Ritsu voiced by Max Mittelman, while Mob's crush, Tsubomi, will likely be handled by Ryan Bartley.

Other returning characters to keep an eye open for include Teru, the antagonist turned friendly rival played by Erik Scott Kimerer, the Body Improvement Club president Musashi, voiced by Patrick Seitz, and the ambitious Tome, played by Cherami Leigh.

What will be the plot of 100 Mob Psycho?

Because the anime adaptation of "100 Mob Psycho" has been largely faithful to its source material, fans have a good idea of what they can expect from Season 3.

There are 16 volumes of the "100 Mob Psycho" manga by ONE, and, as noted by fans on Reddit, the first two seasons divided up the first 12 of those volumes, with six covered in each season. This leaves the final four volumes, which compose the last two full story arcs, in the original manga left for the anime to explore. Season 2 ended with the emergence of the Divine Tree, which grew from the broccoli seed that Mob kept in his pocket, the same event that ended the "World Domination Arc" and Volume 12.

As such, fans can expect to see the "Divine Tree Arc," the "Telepathy Mini-Arc," the "???% Arc," and the epilogue in Season 3. This means viewers will see Mob battle the Divine Tree, experience the ultimate expression of his abilities, which could create another one of the most unbelievable moments in recent anime history, and hopefully find peace at the conclusion of the "100 Mob Psycho" saga.
