Loki Episode 3 Calls Back To An Unforgettable Thor Scene

Contains spoilers for Loki, Season 1, Episode 3: "Lamentis"

Each Disney+ series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has done an incredible job at paying homage to the films that inspired their creations. "WandaVision," "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," and now "Loki" all feature callbacks to former MCU films, which have become fun Easter eggs for fans to discuss. Episode 1 of "Loki" kicked off with one immediately, when the God of Mischief found himself covered in sand upon landing in the Gobi Desert after he stole the Tesseract during the time heist. This was a nice nod to the same type of imagery we saw in the first "Iron Man" after Tony Stark escaped capture and landed in the desert after his first suit malfunctioned.

Episode 3 ("Lamentis") is now calling back to another Phase 1 film — the one where Tom Hiddleston's Loki debuted. In 2011's "Thor," Jane Foster's (Natalie Portman) world is turned upside down when she hits a mystery man with her van. She, along with Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgård) and Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings), befriend the man — Thor (Chris Hemsworth) — and take him to a diner. This infamous diner scene is hinted at in "Loki" Episode 3, and we couldn't be happier about it.

One of Thor's best moments was paid respect in Loki Episode 3

While the foursome is having a meal at the diner, Thor helps himself to a cup of coffee — a beverage not found on Asgard. Impressed with what he's tasting, he says, "This drink... I like it. Another!" and slams the mug on the ground, shattering it to pieces. This shocks the onlookers in the diner and Jane, who goes over to clean up the mess. Thor admits he means no disrespect and confirms he just likes the coffee. The line — specifically the "another" moment — instantly became a fan-favorite moment from the film, and Episode 3 of "Loki" found a way to throw back to it.

After Sylvie wakes up from a nap on the Lamentis train, she finds Loki has helped himself to some more drinks. He is singing as the rest of the cabin looks on and claps, and when the song ends, he takes one more swig of his beverage out of a martini glass. He shouts, "Another!" and throws the glass down behind the bar. The callback is a fun one, and loyal MCU fans likely appreciated and recognized the moment when they heard it. With three more episodes incoming, along with a second season, we're probably going to see many more nods to other MCU moments during "Loki."
