The Walking Dead Season 11A Episode Titles Revealed
The premiere of the super-sized final season of "The Walking Dead" isn't until August 22, but we now have titles for the first batch of episodes to tide us over. Season 11A will consist of eight episodes and based on their names alone, it sounds like they are going to get the season off to a brutal and bloody start.
The episode title drop is part of AMC's "11 Weeks of Reveals" leading up to the season premiere. This summer-long marathon of teases has already gifted us the news that we'll be getting four standalone origin story episodes, as well as some incredible first-look images from the new season. As per usual, the promotions team is doing a great job of teasing fans without giving away too many secrets that might spoil the fun. So, without further adieu, here are the episode titles for "The Walking Dead" Season 11A (via AMC):
Ep 1101 – Acheron: Part I
Ep 1102 – Acheron: Part II
Ep 1103 – Hunted
Ep 1104 – Rendition
Ep 1105 – Out of the Ashes
Ep 1106 – On the Inside
Ep 1107 – Promises Broken
Ep 1108 – For Blood
Some of those titles, like "Hunted" and "For Blood," are pretty visceral and straightforward, while others err more on the side of the esoteric. Exactly whose word is tarnished in "Promises Broken"? And who is going "On the Inside"? We won't have all the answers until the season begins airing, but that doesn't mean we can't do a little speculating.
What we know so far about The Walking Dead Season 11A episodes
Of all the new episode titles for "The Walking Dead" Season 11A, the most beguiling are clearly the first two. The two-part premiere, titled "Acheron," thankfully has some episode descriptions that will provide some much-needed context.
According to descriptions (via AMC), the first episodes of the premiere see Maggie (Lauren Cohan) leading the Alexandrians on a high-risk, high-reward mission to secure a much-needed supply of food for the community. The journey takes the group into a subway tunnel, a setting we already saw in the teaser images, and it sounds like things will get pretty hairy down there. Considering Acheron is the name of one of the rivers that was believed to be an entrance to the underworld in Greek mythology (via Pantheon.org), we're going to guess that this particular trip underground will be very consequential.
The episode descriptions hint that the Reapers, the extremely dangerous group that we were briefly introduced to in the Season 10C premiere "Home Sweet Home," will be making an appearance. What's more, the description for "Acheron: Part II" sets up the aftermath of Ezekiel (Khary Payton), Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura), Eugene (Josh McDermitt), and Princess (Paola Lázaro) being rounded up by soldiers from the Commonwealth.
As for the rest of the episode titles, "Hunted" sounds like it could refer to the Reapers, while "On the Inside" seems like it may involve somebody infiltrating the Commonwealth. However, we'll have to wait until the August 22 premiere of "The Walking Dead" Season 11A to find out.
