Why Jaimie Alexander's Instagram Story Has Marvel Fans Freaking Out

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown to proportions once thought impossible. The franchise began with releasing one or two movies every year. That strategy soon expanded into three films annually, and now with the advent of Disney+, there's been a plethora of series focusing on heroes initially introduced in the movies. The shows run in tandem with films, allowing fans to get their Marvel fix multiple times a week, such as how a new episode of "Loki" will air on July 7 with "Black Widow" arriving in theaters and on Disney+ two days later.

The Disney+ series allow characters usually relegated to supporting roles in the films to have more screen time. This is most readily apparent with Episode 4 of "Loki," which brought back Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander), albeit as a Time-invented vision to torture the god of mischief. She hasn't shown up in the MCU since "Thor: The Dark World," and her presence was a welcome treat for fans who wanted to see more of Fair Sif in this universe.

As it turns out, her presence won't end there. Deadline reports Alexander will return as Sif for "Thor: Love and Thunder," and her reprisal may continue long after that.

Jaimie Alexander says she's 'here to stay' in the MCU

Fans were likely disappointed when Alexander failed to appear in "Thor: Ragnarok." It turns out it resulted from scheduling conflicts with NBC's "Blindspot," which filmed on an entirely different continent to the Marvel production (via Entertainment Weekly). It's unclear what the extent of her role would've been, but seeing as how the other members of the Warriors Four met their doom at Hela's (Cate Blanchett) hands in "Ragnarok," there's a good chance Sif would've encountered a similar end.

Since her character's still around and kicking in the MCU, it opens the doors for her grand return in "Love and Thunder." Plus, her presence may not end there. CBR reports that Alexander posted an intriguing update to an Instagram story, which is no longer on her social media. The story consisted of a selfie of the actress along with the following message: "The lady has returned... and she is here to stay." That makes it sound like Lady Sif could pop up elsewhere in the MCU, which would be a genuine treat for fans.

Seeing how NBC canceled "Blindspot" in 2020, the actress has plenty of time now to take on additional responsibilities, so if the MCU needs her in any property, she'd likely jump at the chance. As for what future projects Lady Sif could appear in, that remains a mystery. "Thor 5" and "Loki" Season 2 would make the most sense, but there isn't any word those projects are in the works. She could always surprise audiences and turn up in something like "Secret Invasion," but regardless of what the future holds for the character, we're just glad to see her back.
