The Loud House Movie - What We Know So Far
Nickelodeon's biggest animated family are getting their own movie, "The Loud House Movie," and it's set to premiere later this summer.
"The Loud House" animated TV show premiered on Nickelodeon back in May 2016. Created by Chris Savino ("Powerpuff Girls," "Rocko's Modern Life"), "The Loud House" follows the adventures of Lincoln Loud, the middle child in a very large family consisting of two parents and 10 sisters: Lori, Leni, Luna, Luan, Lynn, Lucy, Lana, Lola, Lisa, and Lily. Since its 2016 debut, "The Loud House" has remained a staple of the current Nickelodeon TV line-up, running for five seasons thus far and with a sixth season already greenlit (via Deadline). "The Loud House Movie" will be the first movie to feature the 13-member Loud family. The animated movie, which is set to premiere on Netflix in a month, will follow the Loud family as they pack up and travel to Europe after they make a startling discovery about their family history.
Here's what we know so far about "The Loud House Movie," including the release date, cast, and plot.
What is The Loud House Movie release date?
Netflix announced the release date of "The Loud House Movie" during Netflix Geeked's "Geeked Week" event in June. The streaming giant confirmed "The Loud House Movie" would premiere on August 20, 2021 with a tweet posted to Netflix Geeked's Twitter.
The release date was accompanied by a clip from the animated movie. The clip features Lincoln Loud as he shows off a crown, frilly collar, and new tartan duds to his mom and all of his sisters. As he walks down the stairs, he proclaims that he is "Duking," to which two of his sisters reply, "Right in front of us? You know we have our own bathrooms now!" The clip continues, previewing Lincoln's efforts to get his family as excited as he is to participate in the Scottish nobility lifestyle, but his family doesn't seem to be all that interested in joining him. What Lincoln is successful at is getting audiences excited to see how his eagerness to be a Scottish duke will play out and that makes waiting for August 20 to roll around more difficult.
Who is in The Loud House Movie cast?
The cast for "The Loud House Movie" will include familiar voices you know from the Nickelodeon show as well as some famous newcomers. Per the "Loud House Movie" IMDb, every member of the Loud family will be present and accounted for in the Netflix movie. This includes Asher Bishop as Lincoln Loud; Brian Stepanek as Mr. Loud; Jill Talley as Mrs. Loud; Grey Griffin as Lola, Lana, and Lily Loud; Nika Futterman as Luna Loud; Liliana Mumy as Leni Loud; Catherine Taber as Lori Loud; Jessica DiCiccio as Lynn and Lucy Loud; Lara Jill Miller as Lisa Loud; and Cristina Pucelli as Luan Loud.
In addition to many of the "Loud House" cast reprising their roles for "The Loud House Movie," a few of the voice actors who appear in "Loud House" spinoff "The Casagrandes" will pop up in the movie, including Izabella Alvarez as Ronnie Anne Santiago and Carlos PenaVega as Bobby Santiago. Finally, the Netflix feature will be adding some famous Scottish actors in supporting roles, likely in an effort to help ground the story in its Scottish setting. Those famous voices include: David Tennant ("Good Omens"), Michelle Gomez ("The Flight Attendant"), Billy Boyd (the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy), and Ruth Connell ("Supernatural").
What is the plot of The Loud House Movie?
Lucky for us, the plot for "The Loud House Movie" has been revealed via Netflix press materials on the streamer's official press site.
Per Netflix, "The Loud House Movie" follows "the Loud family to Scotland where they discover that they are descendants of Scottish royalty. The family quickly indulges in the most wish-fulfilling high-life ever when they discover their ancestral home is a castle."
Fans of "The Loud House" were able to watch a sneak peek of this rollicking story thanks to a teaser trailer Netflix released back in April (available via YouTube). The trailer previews Lincoln Loud's excitement when he discovers his family's Scottish roots, and his indulgence in the perks of said ancestry. As Lincoln revels, we see the rest of the Loud family enjoying spending time together at one of the many Scottish lochs during their trip. But, if there's one thing we know about the Louds, it's that hijinks are bound to follow these 11 wily siblings wherever they go. As such, audiences should be prepared for Lincoln and his sisters to embark on the adventure of a lifetime in "The Loud House Movie."
