Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Won't Include Drax Soup Scene
Prior to the release of the full Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer that debuted last night, Marvel Entertainment teased a clip of Drax the Destroyer enjoying (quite audibly) a lovely meal. While it served its tongue-in-cheek purpose to promise the upcoming sequel would include the trademark humor seen in the original, it riled some fans up, who claimed the sounds were a bit too gross.
And James Gunn agrees! After one Guardians fan told the film director the Drax teaser trailer was "awful" because of the gulping, chewing, and crunching, Gunn set the record straight and said he wasn't keen on it either.
"I'm with you on finding the chewing/slurping gross!" he said on his Twitter account. "I found it funny but had hesitations about it."
These hesitations were apparently so strong that it lead to a definitive decision: leaving the soup-slurping moment out of the sequel altogether. Gunn went on the record to confirm that "it's not in the movie."
After clearing the air (or, rather, the bowl) on the relatively unpleasant bit, Gunn continued interacting with his audience, revealing a few extra tidbits about the upcoming Guardians movie. One of the bigger moments in the official trailer was seeing Kurt Russell as Star-Lord's father, Ego the Living Planet. While some were concerned his appearance was a spoiler, Gunn assured fans that it isn't.
"[Ego's reveal] happens a few minutes into the movie/is the core emotional relationship," he said. "It'd be like making a Tango & Cash movie & avoiding showing Cash."
And, of course, it wouldn't be a proper Q&A session without bringing up Baby Groot. This time, we learned his snack of choice: not Skittles or M&Ms, but "Space Candy."
